I still think the Oregon game in the WNIT is the best game I have ever seen a Coyote team play in any sport. The 2005 game against UNO in football was a close 2nd. That Oregon game WAS incredible. Post-season, P5 opponent, raucous Dome crowd and complete Coyote domination. I remember Kelly Graves, the OU coach, basically conceded late second qtr when he sat down and never got up again. I think that game could kind of be an example of what it takes to have a better chance to beat a P5 program. Those teams can easily take away the inside but if a team is passing well and hitting from long distance that is a very hard thing to stop and it will open up the whole court. I have always kind of been a proponent of trying to set up a team to be a good outside shooting team. Not that having Sjerven isn't a very big deal but the Golden State model has been proven to work. I maintain that hitting a wide open three can be a higher percentage shot than trying to hit a 5 to 8 footer with defenders all around. It can be, not has to be. Think about practice. Kids are always launching those three point shots over and over. The fact that it gives 33% more to the scoreboard is also a big advantage. Dave Boots was always kind of a 3 point shooting type coach.
