Everyone,
The last play against SDSU is one of the final four plays of the year at tonight’s sports illustrated awards. It’s being streamed at 7 pm (cst)

Awesome to get that recognition. I think it is a worthy winner especially considering the importance of the game at the time.

And the announcers mentioned was against rival SD state! I thought that was pretty funny. Couldn't be bothered to say what SD stands for, despite having called us South Dakota earlier in the sentence. |

Seeing Dan Marino in the front
reminded me of Sisseton native
and USD law grad Joe Robbie becoming the first owner of the Dolphins in 1966. He owned the Fins till 1990 so was owner when Dolphins had their perfect season. Had practiced law in SD before ultimately moving to FL.
Also joined the Navy the day after Pearl Harbor and won a bronze star. Was USD's national fundraiser chairman for the Dakota Dome.
Interesting facts younger USD students and fans probably wouldn't know.

I love Van Pelt's snarky comments about the whole SDSU-SDSU thing. He obviously hasn't forgotten, and it obviously annoyed him. "And South Dakota State (not San Deigo State - 'I hate you Van Pelt, cause one time you made a mistake').... Touchdown South Dakota - winners." I also like that they pronounced Coyotes correctly. |
