Hopefully Alyssa shines out like our last recruit from SE Polk! Very exciting! She looks like a ball-hawk in the highlight videos. Both steals and rebounds. Not as quick as Grace, but still pretty quick. She appears to be good at the "kickout" pass, which is a good thing for a point guard.

This is who I was hoping it would be: She had visited for a football game about a year ago, and is one of those recruits who don't list her offers in social media. North Tartan player from Eden Prairie MN (MSP). I don't know any of her rankings, but any player from the North Tartan club is a good get! Listed as a 5-9 guard, and a good defender.

Here are some comments from GBB scouts on Tori:
Jun 2022 from Mason Asher: 2025 5'9 G Tori Schlagel (@schlageltori) is a very lengthy guard who did a ton of very nice things this afternoon. Very solid defender who was able to use her length very well. Very skilled with the ball and can score it at a very high level.
July 2022 from Mason Asher: 2025 5'9 G Tori Schlagel (@schlageltori) is smooth with the ball on the open floor and has the ability to get to the rim. Has a nice feel for the game and does a lot of the little things on the court. I thought that she was solid on defense today.
Dec 2022 from Brady Peterson: 5'9 2025 W Tori Schlagel (@schlageltori) is a big-time transition threat. She can push the ball up the floor herself, catch an outlet pass, put pressure on the rim, slide out to the 3-point line and make perimeter jumpers. Outstanding athlete.
July 2023 From Brady Peterson: 5'9 2025 G Tori Schlagel (@schlageltori) showed some really nice athleticism getting up and down the floor. She also made some good reads with the ball in her hands, and I like how she shoots the ball, and she made a few shots this morning.

Soph season highlight video or Tori:
2023 HS postseason Highlights:
I like her ability to "slash" to the basket, reminds me a little of Alison Arens. Also a nice step-back jumper.

Good stuff. I don't have a subscription to that service, but you can see the top-5 rankings for free, and typically the top-5 from Minnesota are all going to Power-6 schools. Here are the previous classes:
2024 (current seniors) 1. Olivia Olsen --- Michigan 2. Liv McGill ------ Florida 3. Jordan Zubich - North Carolina 4. Tori McKinney - Minnesota (visited USD) 5. Trinity Wilson - Vanderbilt
2023 (current college freshmen) 1. Tessa Johnson ---- South Carolina 2. Nunu Agara ------- Stanford 3. Taylor Woodson --- Michigan 4. Kennedy Sanders - Colorado 5. Kennedy Klick ----- Minnesota
2022 (current college sophomores) 1. Maya Nnaji-----Arizona 2. Mara Braun --- Minnesota 3. Amaya Battle - Minnesota 4. Mallory Heyer - Minnesota 5. Nia Holloway -- Minnesota
2021 (current college Juniors) 1. Adalia McKenzie ---- Illinois 2. Sophie Hart -------- NC State (transfer to Minnesota) 3. Gianna Kneepkens - Utah 4. Jenna Johnson ----- Utah 5. Katie Borowicz ----- Minnesota
so I'd say Tori is probably a fairly talented kid....

By definition everybody looks pretty good in highlight videos, but Schlagel looks tough. Well-rounded offensive game that looks like it will translate well to the next level. And that release is pure. Which is always nice to see.

Jaiden Haile, the PF from Fargo we had offered this summer (North Tartan), now has offers from Gonzaga and Iowa State... I'm not taking her off the board, but that's some stiff competition. Hoping we have some plan B forwards we are looking at in this class.
Same could be said of our Wing offer to Libby Fandel (Cedar Rapids) a year ago. She now has offers from BYU and Marquette.
There are plenty of scholarships that will be open for the 2025 class. Hopefully we will see some new offers out this winter?
