Doesn't mean they are gone but certainly not a good sign. Need to get a coach announced soon.

It's tough when you have nobody left to let you know things will be alright. At least the men had Casey K. left over to try and keep some guys (and even then most entered the portal). The whole staff is gone for the women, I'm sure there is a little fear of the unknown. Hopefully we can get a coach in there soon and they can ease some concerns before some of these girls decide to go elsewhere.

If there's two players we can't lose it's Maddie and Kyah. They are going to be the backbone of this squad for the next 3 years, tenacity, defense, leadership. They will be highly sought after. Wouldn't be surprised to see one end up at Creighton and one up north. Only way Selland will score against the Yotes again is to have Kyah on her team (I'm saying that somewhat in jest of course)!

This is the price of success. Coaching changes are disruptive, especially if it's the whole staff. Just have to trust the admin to find the next great coach! It has been their history.

Yeah it's a loss, but the team will be fine. Hansen, Hempe (and later in the season Mazurek) will be back. Carson is ready to go and will contribute...plus the experience of Pep, Ugofsky, Guebert will be key. Williston is possible if she comes along but would not have played under Coach P. Plus incoming freshmen. Team will be fine....it has leadership among them and still a great culture and comradery. New Coach and continued support from administration, families and fans will be key! Stay positive people!!

We have a great roster (assuming there are not any more portals to come), but potentially losing Kyah and Maddie definitely hurts. The good news is that we are positioned to attract another really great coach who will be able to bring in talent. No reason to panic yet.

AAU coach in their ears.
I wouldn’t like seeing either at Creighton. Not a big enough step up.
No guarantees we don’t lose more or Bergstrom or Demers. Hopefully they have a new coach by the end of the week to re-recruit everyone.

Stay positive people!! You talk like it’s a done deal. Is it? Would be highly disappointed in these players to ride a wave of support and school spirit to the Sweet 16 and then bail out on the school two weeks later. Would think at least their parents would talk a little about loyalty with them.

It is not a done deal, they are entering their names to consider their options while they wait to see who the new coach is...

So, if Maddie and Kyah bail… how’s this look: Guebert and Larkins at guard; Ugofsky and Hansen at forward; Peplowski at center. Not too bad!

I'd guess: Guards: Larkins, Guebert, Carson, Bergstrom Wing/Stretch: Hansen, Hempe Power Forward: Ugofsky, Duffney Center: Mazurek, Peplowski, Williston, Demers We will actually be deeper at Center than normal. Maybe we could utilize some heavier sets with two posts in some possessions, rather than the normal 4-out or 5-out? Most of these players are somewhat hybrid anyway. Also, if those two transfer we will actually have three open scholarships Coach K could fill immediately.

I am not so sure, with the timing of the injury, how much Mazurek will be playing this next season.

Now that the dust has settled a bit and we know what we have left, my starting 5 are:
Larkins, Geubert, Hempe, Ugofsky, Peplowski.
End of the year lineup might look a lot different depending upon the development of Demers, Carson, Bergstrom, and Duffney. Good, young, solid core with that group. If they show out we'll be solid by the end of the season.

I agree with this, but would maybe trade Hansen for Hempe 1 - Larkins /Bergstrom 2 - Guebert / Carson 3 - Hansen / Hempe 4 - Ugofsky / Duffney 5 - Peplowski / Demers / (Mazurek injured) bold = seniors-four roster spots open- Honestly, we have some balance with the 2023 roster. Coach K could bring in players in just about any position, depending on the direction she wants to take the team. With Guebert and Pep graduating, maybe look to the future and get a sharp-shooter and a big?

With Guebert and Pep graduating, maybe look to the future and get a sharp-shooter and a big? Lots of unknowns there, but also plenty of potential. I expect Larkins to take a huge step forward after getting some very valuable experience last year. I think the incoming freshman Demers and Bergstrom both have huge potential. How quickly they can develop and contribute will be key. Same with Carson and Duffney, frankly, since both red shirted. Need Hansen and Hempe to be healthy. Both have shown some nice flashes but have been hampered by injuries. Peplowski will be solid. Ugofsky brings energy and toughness. Would love to see Guebert seize this opportunity and take a big step forward as well. Not sure when Mazurek will be available. In terms of additions, I think we bring in at least 3, especially with Mazurek's injury. A good arc shooter and a big would be nice. Also an athletic defender. The defensive end is where we will miss Kyah and Maddie most. Both are excellent defenders. Patience will be key. With so many new faces in key roles, it may take a while to gel. With good coaching this team should get better and better and the season progresses. We shouldn't be too discouraged if we take some lumps early. Overall a lot to look forward to. Will be a year of transitions but despite what State fans seem to believe, we are not screwed for the foreseeable future. There will be ups and downs. But with the right additions, this team could be a tough out come tourney time. Looking forward to watching this team grow and cheering them on.
