Guebert is a good shooter to bring in off the bench, but our portal recruiting will be pretty disappointing if we don't bring in someone who can start over her. Maybe I'm not giving her enough credit though. I hope she proves me wrong.

Guebert's defense has improved as her playing time increased.
Her arc shooting has always been great!!

I would agree that her defense kept her off the court previously. But she was in the rotation last season, and she has improved in that regard. It was definitely hard to get too many minutes last season though with the big 3 being so dominant.
Right now, Larkins is the only player I have any certainty will start. Next would be Ugofsky. After that is anyone’s guess.

Just remember, after the 2020 season, who thought that Liv Korngable would be a starter, much less the fantastic contributor that she became, the following year? Or Taylor Frederick the year before that? Every player on that bench was recruited for a reason. Some of them just need to be given their shot. The coaches are working with them, they work very hard in practice, they learn the opposing teams offense and defense, and they make it so that the starters can do their thing. Those young ladies are tough. Don’t give up on them or on the season until you see what they can do.

I saw the potential in Liv every time she took the floor, she just needed an opportunity which really didn't come until we had some graduations and injuries. That said, I agree with your sentiment 1000%! We'll need to be a bit patient early in the year, but I think by the time the SLT rolls around people are going to be worried about playing the Yotes.

To this day, I still can't recall seeing any player make a more significant jump from year 1 to year 2 than what that young lady did. Her freshman year was a struggle in my eyes. Her sophomore through senior years were fun to watch.

Never will forget her half court hook shot basket against Oregon in the first half as the clock was running down in the WNIT in the dome!!!

She hit a baseline 3 towards the end of the game followed by the most emphatic fist pump I've ever seen. I thought the roof was going to blow off the dome.

Just thought I'd share a couple of lines from the recent YoteCast interview with Asst. Coach Ty Margenthaler:

My take going into summer break:
G: Avila-Ambrosi G: Larkins G: Guebert 4: Ugofsky/Hempe 5: Peplowski
Demers and Bergstrom will add valuable minutes in their freshman campaigns. Hansen will push to start at some point in the season. Very excited to see what Carson and Duffney can contribute this year.

Some of the lineup might depend on what system Coach Kayla wants to run, I think. Or the opponent. Both Hempe and Hansen could potentially play the 3 or 4 role, I think. Carson is another tall guard. We have some options to play "big" or "small" lineups, and 3-out or 4-out systems. I see Bergstrom as maybe another flexible guard with ball handling and shooting skills and size that could play 1-3 spots. It will be fun to see it evolve!
