Just read that first game for Coach Peterson will be on Nov 7th in Madison Wi against the Badgers. What a great way to start your career especially since he is a Wisconsin native. Hopefully we can give them a battle.

I see a good OOC schedule for MBB on the website. It is showing 6 OOC games. Are there more games expected prior to conference play?

Yes we will have more non conference games. If you go to ESPN.com you will find several more games for the Coyotes. Looks like we will play Coastal Carolina twice. Home and home series. We will also play Air Force as well as Lipscomb. Looks like USD is really behind releasing their schedule. i do agree it does appear to be a very good OOC schedule. In direct contrast with our Women’s team schedule who does not appear to be playing against any power 5 teams which I think will be the first time since turning division 1. Coach Peterson appears to be willing to build and challenge his kids in his first year. Exciting times.

In the preseasons polls are stupid category, add Luke appel on first team and aj plitzuweit on 2nd team. Has anyone heard how AJ is looking? I don't expect to have him at what he was, but I'm wondering if we will at least get him at 80% of what he was.

AJ at 80% is SLMVP
I’m betting he’s better than 80%. He rehabbed his butt off.

I absolutely love that dude but we better enjoy the ride this year. He is everything you could want in a player and person. With his family gone, I wouldn't be surprised if he transfers out after this year, especially if he plays to his pre-injury level. He will be sought after with 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Here's that preseason poll: LINK2022-23 Summit League Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll Rnk School ...........Pts (1st) ....2022 (SL)
1... Oral Roberts ....731 (28) ..19-12 (12-6) 2... SDSU .............668 (11) ...30-5 (18-0) 3... South Dakota 602 (1) ..19-12 (11-7)
4... NDSU .............549 ........23-10 (13-5) 5... Denver ...........432 ........11-21 (7-11) 6... Kansas City .....310 ........19-12 (12-6) 7... Western Ill ......294 ........16-16 (7-11) 8... St. Thomas .....289 ........10-20 (4-14) 9... Omaha ...........279 .........5-25 (4-14) 10. North Dakota ..174 ..........6-25 (2-16) The top-4 look to be the usual suspects, with KC dropping down to #6, and Denver jumping up to #5. Nothing too unusual. I'd say that's some optimism in USD, with new staff and lots of new players. AJ's return probably plays into the ranking, too.

I gotta think that Tasos will end up all-league this year, and AJ will be at least 1st team, if not POY.

Man there seems to be a lot of optimism surrounding AJ's return, I sure hope he's looking as good as everyone feels he is or will. This was not your run of the mill torn ACL, he almost lost his leg. This is an injury that not a lot of basketball players have come back from. The fact that he can play at all tells me he has rehabbed his ass off.
I'll be interested to see how big of a role Bruns will have as well. Certainly his light won't be as green as it was at und.

ESPN with a bold prediction.

ESPN with a bold prediction. I mean, the odds are good that he will be in the running for POY, but saying this year "could be" his best ever is based on...... what? Seniority? When you are already at the high end of the stats scale, I'd argue that statistically you have a better chance of staying the same or regressing. Wishful thinking for clicks.

It seems unlikely they did any research beyond a quick look at the top returning performers. I don't necessarily disagree with their take, but I wouldn't put any stock into what ESPN has to say about the Summit....or pretty much anything for that matter.

I think you guys need to give it a click - the interesting part isn't Abmas, but who they think will be his top competition (and why)...
