"Midco will provide its live game production to its streaming platform, Midco Sports Plus, as well as to ESPN3/+ for national coverage." "For all non-televised home games this season, the free GoYotes.com live stream will also be available on the Midco Sports Plus app." So in both cases, Midco+ is just supplementing the coverage. Not locking it out from ESPN+ or from the free GoYotes streams. At least for now. I think if a subscription-based Summit network was established, it still wouldn't prevent televised content from going to ESPN+, it would just change the model of free/subscription-based streaming provided by the individual schools. Instead of Denver/NDSU/UND/SDSU getting subscription money from their own individual services, all schools would get money from a shared fee-based stream. I have midco+. Allows me to watch games that I otherwise wouldn't have access to on ESPN3 (3 needs tv provider and I don't have streaming or cable tv) It also allows me to watch Midco's FB production when espn uses a different feed, such as our game at NDSU in a couple weeks. Not having to listen to Dom makes it worth it alone.

OK, so maybe I'm not very media-savvy, but I had to Google "Linear broadcasting". Apparently, it's a term that means:
So that makes sense, I guess. They are referring to both cable and digital(streaming) options. Maybe through MidCo?

A new media rights agreement is expected within the next couple of months per this Fargo newspaper article. I really hope Midco is part of the streaming agreement.

A new media rights agreement is expected within the next couple of months per this Fargo newspaper article. I really hope Midco is part of the streaming agreement. One thing that stood out to me in that article was that he talked about both national and local media partners, and that there would also be a place to aggregate all the school-based team coverage, with "minimum quality standards" for the broadcasts. So maybe this will unlock the fee-based content that some schools sell, and it will eliminate or upgrade the crappy broadcasts we see from WIU, KC and UST. So basically the idea is just an enhanced and better standardized version of what we have now, with the addition of a national-level "tier-1" provider. Midco and WDAY will still be able to pick up the "tier-2" stuff, and there will be a centralized place for re-broadcasting "tier-3" type content that isn't picked up by the others (with minimum quality standards). Sounds good to me.

I believe the MVFC is working on a new TV deal this spring, as well. Hopefully they are on the same streaming platform as the Summit.

I kinda think that if Midco gets the streaming rights, they could broadcast more non-dakota away games, with the goal of increasing cable and satalite carriage of the Midco Sports linear networks. Markets like Omaha and Tulsa (COX) come to mind, as well as additional opportunities in St. Paul. Could also provide Midco Sports to their Kansas customers.

I don't see how the SL cant see how mirrored schedules is going to hurt attendance. The best and only way to watch both the men and women play is to stay home and stream them. Or maybe I'm wrong and the number of people who want to watch both is not that large. I dunno.

It is cool that additional Summit games will be on national television now, rather than just the tournament finals. But does this mean that to watch any other games that I will have to pay for another subscription? Midco SN isn't available in my area. Can't imagine ESPN+ is in the picture anymore.

From the apps FAQ's "Do I need to be a Midco customer to get Midco Sports Plus? No. Midco Sports Plus is a standalone product and you do not need to have any other Midco services." You'll still need ESPN+ to watch football.

Last year I stayed home a couple of different times as I wanted to watch both games. I think the mirrored schedule sucks.

My selfish disappointment aside, this does seem like excellent news for the Summit and Midco. Minimum 6 regular season Summit games on CBS Sports with the network option to pick up more. That doesn't include the SLT games either. A guaranteed platform for every Summit game in every sport also is big news.
