Every playmaker, or maybe otherwise, can enter the portal. It's going to be exhausting if we have to talk about it every single time someone looks good out there.

Way to ruin the thread, I just wanted to hear everyone’s ideas and excitement on this fall. No negativity in this thread. I sure hope you are wrong, but that’s quite a leap to say a kid is hitting the portal after this year because he posted a highlight video on Twitter. Maybe he was excited for this fall also? No idea what tomorrow brings, let’s all just enjoy today! I love the comments on the OL. Couldn’t agree with you guys more. GO YOTES! I don’t think I ruined the thread . The post was about “playmakers” and Bell is arguably our best playmaker. No negativity at all, from what I hear, it’s very likely he will enter the portal. I think it’s a great opportunity for Bell if so true. Only time will tell. It seems weird to me that a guy would be openly talking about entering the portal a year from now. Maybe not openly discussing it, but there has to be some talk if that's what you're hearing. Has transferring out become so commonplace that players aren't ashamed to talk about it in the facility or with their teammates?

I think this message board rumor has crossed over into irresponsible territory. Let's cut it out and get back to productive discussion.

Agree 100%! Nothing good comes out of spreading rumors especially when the season hasn’t even started. What happens will happen, but anyone who has been in a college locker room knows there’s a lot of stuff said in there that’s means nothing and even more that should never leave the locker room. Plus if my math is correct, some of these guys with quite a bit of playing time will be graduating after this year, so who knows what will happen with multiple years of eligibility left and being a graduate.
To get back on track, I can’t wait to see the development of our defense. Got some really talented kids on that side of the ball on every level. Need it to be very stout with the level of competition in our schedule.

I’d guess McKinney and Harden are starting CB’s. Ganeous probably a safety. McDaniels, Jackson, Holman also in the mix. We can only hope that secondary is finally getting some depth. If memory serves me correctly, we were playing a 5th string CB by the playoffs last season, and feels like we even had Jakari Starling filling in at a safety position it was so depleted.

The 2022 roster has finally dropped. No major surprises from what I can see. Some thoughts: -Freshmen don't have pics yet, and I don't think weights have been updated for returners yet. -I'm glad Stenstrom got some playing time last year, because, behind him, we have no experience at QB. -Competition at WR should be wide open behind Bell. -We have some LARGE humans on the o-line. Time to finally put it all together there. -We also have some decent size to mix into the interior D-line. The transfer from North Texas is 290 and we have a 315 true freshman from Ontario (went to high school in CT). -Kicker and Punter will be fresh faces. The senior transfers better be ready to step up or else we'll be playing true freshman at those positions. -Linebacker will once again be the strength of the team.

Read in the Argus receiver piece on USD that Lovett is out for an unknown period of time with a hand injury. Really concerned about the WR group. we will need some guys with little to no playing time there to emerge in a big way. I see we did add a couple of transfers there, so we will see what we have there.

Also, I posted this on the 2022 Commits threads as well, but Andrew Jacobs has no commitment tweet and was never included in any signing day press releases, but is apparently standing out in fall camp as a true freshman. Hopefully that translates to Saturdays!

I think we’re going to have excellent depth in the secondary. Harden, McKelvey, McKinney, Tisdale, Shorter, Holman, Ganeous, Jackson, Manchigiah, & McDaniels have all had some level of playing time. Hopefully this allows us to send extra guys into the box and be able to stuff the run and then on 3rd down cover for long enough to get to the QB.
