7-4 and entering the playoffs on a 5 game winning streak.

We really do have a challenging schedule. I'm tempted to predict an upset over K-State or Montana, but instead, I think we take down the Bison at home in a barn burner. The state game will be close but they'll get their revenge (the Argus article will make it sound like a beat down unfortunately). We will then almost win every remaining game except for a heart breaker in Grand Forks. 7-4 heading into the playoff. Top 15 ranking in the final poll. 2023 and 2024 are set up to be huge seasons. GO YOTES.

I so want to pick a win over the Jacks but I think this might be their year, pretty solid squad. If Stig can't deliver with what they have in Brookings this year they should seriously consider moving on, though that won't happen. It does mean though that if he can't get over the hump with this team it is never going to happen. But back to the Coyotes, 8-3 is not shabby and if we fast forward to the end of the season and that is how it plays out I would be happy with the season and the playoff berth.

Having the NDSU game early in the season and at home is a big factor in my decision to have them pull the upset. We will most likely lose a home game that we shouldn’t, and for me that home game was between Mo St and the saulukis (sp?). Im hoping for 8-3 but I’m thinking we’ll be around that 7-4 mark with a heartbreaker, or two, road losses.

I’m going 9 wins. Call me crazy. We’ve got a ton back and never deeper on defensive line and secondary.

I will say 6-5. Schedule is brutal and we have not shown that we can adjust to shortcomings in short yardage, penalties, discipline in the past.

I don’t remember penalties being a problem last year. In fact, a quick check of stats from last season and we were #2 in least penalized teams, behind only NDSU.

Short yardage has been an issue yet, but the OL returns 4 guys and hope springs eternal.

We definitely have a tough pair of back to back road games a week apart. I kinda wish the opener was a Friday game for that extra day of recovery. But interesting schedule note for week 4. NDSU plays @ Arizona the week before coming to USD in a late night kickoff with return home followed by a road game to vermilion. Playing them early in the season before depth gets stressed is certainly worth a shot versus playing them late November.

I believe this team has the tools to win any game they play. Consistency will be the key, can they stay up to that challenge week in and week out. 7-4 heading into the playoffs!!
