It seems like this is just for play calling duties. Schlafke remains with the program.

Clearly this is a personal matter, dumping a guy that he had calling the offense (for over a decade) after two games? Versus a solid FBS school and the 3rd ranked team in the country? There is something more here than just play calling.

The FBS team was giving 100% for only the first half.

Montana is close to what we will see on a regular basis in conference play.

7 points between those games shouldn't be excused. Schlafke and Bob have worked together for a very long time, which makes this move very unexpected, but it seems to me that this offense is falling well short of its potential so far.

It could be personal reasons, but it could also easily be some pressure being applied to the HC staff. Either way the play calling is part of the reason we’ve only scored 7 points in two games. Rank doesn’t matter when you play in The Valley cause you’re guaranteed to play 2 top 5 teams a year.

Maybe. Just seems weird to me. I don’t recall bad play calling. We run spread/rpo stuff and have multiple options at the LOS . We have an execution issue..missed throws, penalties, dropped balls, handling blitzes, etc.. it’s not all play calling in my opinion. And the fact that Schlafke has been with him for do long . Can anyone confirm if he is even on the staff anymore?

Something weird going on for sure. The okay calling wasn't great or anything in the first two games but it certainly wasn't the main reason we lost. Either Bob got some hot seat talks from Herbster or there's some off the field stuff going on.

It’ll be interesting to see what chatter there is at tailgate Saturday.

It will also be interesting to see if Bob reveals anything more about the situation postgame.
