Pretty awesome to have the BTN’s Shon Morris calling Summit games. That guy’s a real pro.

AJ looks fantastic tonight. I'm hesitant to say he moves as well but he did not forget how to shoot and his handle is every bit as good. 5-6 from 3. Spot ups, step backs. He still has it. Good for him. He deserves all good things that come to him.

Coyotes playing MUCH better defense and with way better energy in the second half. AJ’s confidence is back. This is the team I was expecting to see tonight!

Fun team to watch, hopefully we can finish this off.

And intangibly, our coach on the floor is back. I'm so proud of that kid. We're lucky to have him

Tough start to the game but once the team started feeling confident look at the results. It was a hard earned win but a win is a win. I wasn’t able to watch the game, or attend, but what was the team mood like? Coaching like? One of my biggest criticisms of Lee was that while he was a good X’s and O’s Guy he wasn’t very inspiring out there court side.

We had to adjust to their speed and quickness and took their punches in the first half. They made something like 8 of their first 9 threes and got some easy backdoor buckets out of their Princeton offense. EP was good about using timeouts to stop momentum and it seemed like he made some good adjustments after he figured out what Lipscomb was doing. Basketball is a game of ebb and flow and it is hard to compete when a team can't miss. All you can do is make their shots more difficult. We started doing that late in the first half and then the law of averages came into play. Defensive stops led to better offensive flow and once AJ got going the energy and complexion of the game changed completely. If we get good guard play this team has the potential to be pretty solid. We still suffer a little in the size department so we will struggle against bigger/longer teams. Shooting can be the great equalizer and we are definitely more capable this year.
The good news is I think you can count on 2 of our 4 guards (AJ, KPH, Mason, Bruns) playing well on any given night. Bruns seems like more of a shooter than an on-ball scorer. Coleman will be a nice complementary piece, especially if he can develop some consistent outside shooting. His ball handling is fun to watch. Burchill played really hard last night and his defensive effort will earn minutes. I wonder if we plan on red shirting some of the bigger true freshman just due to lack of minutes. It looks like we will always have 3 guards on the floor and sometimes 4 if Hayes is playing the 5.
It's a fun team to watch when our guards get going and attack. If we can maintain our defensive effort and stay healthy, this team will win a lot of games. They have great energy and seem to enjoy playing, which probably comes down from the coach.

I was very impressed with Burchill. His stat line won't blow you away, but he was very solid defensively, and made some good plays on the offensive end. dbyote is probably right about being able to get at least two of the guards playing well on any given night. Last night certainly wasn't KPH's night, nor was it Bruns', but AJ and Hayes both played well, Mason made some timely plays. It appears Bruns will probably have to get use to a much different role than he had at UND where he was the primary scorer and had the green light all the time. I look forward to the night when KPH and AJ both go off.

If AJ and KPH go off in the same game, we will be very tough to beat. Especially if they draw attention away from our other scorers. It seemed to me that Lipscomb put an emphasis on shutting down Kruz last night, probably scouted after the Wisconsin game. We have enough scoring now where it will tough to take away everything.

That was a pretty awesome game for a number of reasons, most of all to see Plitzuweit back in the groove. For a new coach to see his team look that discombobulated early on both ends and calm them down and get everybody back on the same page and back into the game for the win was impressive. Always helps when your leader unleashes the flamethrower.
That said, AJ's leg's obviously nowhere near 100 percent and never will be again. The stroke is there and there will be nights where it's rolling but I know you're not going to be able to truly bank on many 90 percent shooting nights at full health and I worry about how night in and night out consistent he's going to be on that leg because it's obvious he's lost a step. Kid's an absolute gamer, though. Heart and soul, through and through.
That's a scrappy bunch and smart. Lack of size could hurt them and I feel like they're a real No. 1 offensive option away from being really good. But they're going to play hard and smart and they have some really nice role players (Hayes and Burchill were great) ... and hopefully they have more nights like last night, which again, was awesome to watch.

Was anything said about Kutcher? Weird to see walk-ons getting plenty of minutes and nothing for Kutcher who showed good offensive promise last year. Is he injured or just not picking up the new system as quickly?
