Why do they not throw it to the inside?? How many missed threes and air balls need to be thrown before they start looking inside???

Thought we saw some real improvement today just as far as getting comfortable with each other. Bradley is clearly a different level of opponent compared to creighton so good opportunity to gain some confidence. Looks like they were pressing out of the gate and fought through a scoreless stretch as well. Once they started driving and kicking for open 3’s more it felt like things flowed better. Was glad to see grange find her shot and I like Avila getting more minutes. I love the look of Demers for what should be a high school senior. She is going to be a really nice player in her time at USD. Great to see more balanced scoring across the board and not just Larkins. Going to be fun to watch this team grow and add more healthy pieces next year.

I only saw the 4th quarter. I really liked what I saw for the most part. Only critique would be they could’ve slowed down a touch in those last 3 minutes. They weren’t using enough clock, and allowed Bradley to rush them a little. A couple turnovers and it could’ve gotten interesting. Good road win though and a chance to get better in game situations. That’s a great thing for an almost new team.

Gotta like how the trio of Larkins, Hempe and Grange fit each other. They get more confident. Ugofsky and Demers can bang with people. Good stuff to build on.

The Lady Yotes definitely got more organized as the game progressed on both O and D. They are very confident with 3s (maybe a little too much) and agree with other posters about work more inside sets. Also agree there were some very silly TOs when they were up 15-17 pts in the early 4th that shouldn't have happened. Really good teams will take advantage of those. Bradley's small guards wanted to drive a lot and the Yote D was too close some plays beyond the arc and they'd drive for a layup. Boxing out and rebounding was much better in 4th! One thing that's great is the depth of talent--the Yotes can go 9 or 10 deep and that definitely wore Bradley down.
Good progress--keep learning and jelling ladies! Appreciate your hard work, hustle plays and sharing of the ball!!

Happy to see Hempe doing so well. She has had a tough road. Hope she stays healthy. Demers is going to be good. Remember she is just a young girl. This team will continue to improve with experience.

Late to the party, but finally have some time to post some thoughts.
Bradley was terrible last year, lost their best player, and have a new coach, so it was a bit disconcerting to see the Yotes allow a 14-0 run and get down by 10 with six minutes to go in the 2Q. But it was impressive to watch them bounce back and outscore Bradley 54-26 the rest of the way. They wasted no time in getting the lead back and just put them away in the 3Q.
To those that were commenting about them shooting a lot of threes...well, I hate to tell you this, but that's probably their best way to score this season. They have shooting, but outside of Larkins they don't have a lot of creators. Grange shows some ability there, and Hempe/Hansen have the skill if not the quickness. And Demers is so strong that I think she will be a good low-post scorer in time, but she probably doesn't command a double-team against higher level teams yet.
So I think the key to good offense for this team is to be able to create open looks on the perimeter. They were able to do that against that zone Bradley ran all game.
I do think most people agree that patience is needed this year. To that point, it's amazing to realize that there are TWO players on the roster that have averaged more than 20 minutes a game in a college season. And those two are transfers. From the outside, we don't know who else might emerge to help share the scoring load...but I don't think they know either! But it should be fascinating to find out. Go Yotes.

... I just want everyone to know up front, I became a member of this board to follow a certain player on this team.... You certainly don't have to qualify any fan credentials to post here. We don't need to see your hall pass, or Howling Pack membership card. Hell, there are plenty of regular contributors that don't really care for the Yotes at all! Just ask any of our blue bunny friends! Thanks for the insights, I think they are spot-on.
