Wasn’t sure where to put this thread. But the Tommies Announced plans this morning for a new Arena complex for basketball/hockey. Sounds like 70 million raised and about 100 million more to go. Renditions look pretty nice, and their anticipated construction start date is 2024. Look out Summit League the Tommies have joined the facilities arms race.

I sure hope they build a parking ramp! Nobody better complain about parking at our games until they go to a game at UST.

The article doesn’t mention estimated capacity, but the renditions look like the basketball setup could typically feel big and empty similar to how the dome used to feel. If I were in charge of the project, I would try to find a way to have the additional court side seats lifted to allow for a “fans sitting on top of the action” type feel while still maintaining some feel of continuity with the permanent seating. Not sure if that would be possible, but would be worth a try.

Looks very impressive. Figured it was a matter of time before UST unveiled facilities that put them at the top of the league.

My friends in the twin cities think in a few years they will be in the big east with other catholic schools I give them 10 years to get fully transitioned, make the dance a couple times and win the summit league a couple times before moving on. Who knows what the conferences will look like in the near future but I don’t expect the tommies to stick around once they find success.
