Lady Yotes need to reset today against the Mavs. Omaha's post is 6'3", so Demers will have her hands full. Both her and Larkins need to focus on not getting into early foul trouble! The team needs to play 4 Qs of very solid, smart and effort driven defense!!
Go Yotes!!!

Wow. There were entire games last year where we wouldn't give up 30 points. We've already given that up 10 minutes into the game.

Playing with more purpose on offense. switch to zone defense was a good move. It works against teams who don't have good guards. It might be our best defensive strategy this year

Good win. Much better effort in the second half. Duffney was really good today. Her track skills show when she gets going downhill. She should some nice finishing ability. She and grace finished with 46 of our 70.

Come back road wins are always good! Much better swarming D without fouling! Grace had two early opportunities for touch fouls and didn't! She finished with only 1 foul and Walker 3 and only one other Yote had 3. Part of that is the opponent but part is better positioning and using feet to defend rather than hands.
Walker also made 2-4 3s ala Hannah which is fun to see. She's gaining more confidence every game!

Great bounceback win, especially after getting down 13 early in the 2Q. As I said after the SDSU game, a win tomorrow really sets them up good to finish 2nd or 3rd.

One other note. It was said in the pregame show that in addition to the Haydon injury, Kayla said that Hansen tweaked her knee in practice. She wore a wrap on the knee and played but was not 100%.

Guebert, Larkins and NAA were a combined 8 Assists- 1 Turnover. that's an A/TO ratio of 8.0! The team was 11-6 as a whole, for 1.83

I was at the game on Saturday, and sat a few rows behind the USD bench. One thing I noticed that was perplexing to me is that we don't push the ball during transition opportunities and it appears as though the players are being encouraged to slow down the game instead of pushing it. One play in particular had us with a 3-2 matchup with our guards going agains one of their bigs, and another player and I watched the signal from the bench to hold back instead of going in. The scenario played out more than once which I found to be frustrating.
All in all, definitely a much better second half than the first, and a nice road win at the end regardless of how they did it.

I'm guessing that may have something to do with having only 8 players available with one of them limited.
