I thought I'd make the thread for this early. No schedule leaks yet I know of. The Athletic Department just released a really well-produced video, with reflections on the 2022 season, looking ahead to 2023, and lots of player interviews! Good Stuff.

I attended the volleyball awards brunch on saturday. Great turnout. It was really nice watching the players welcome back the 2 seniors plus Elizabeth. You can tell that the volleyball program went this year from being a team to a family. Lots of hugs and smiles and reminiscing. I got a few head ups up about upcoming matches. Sounds like one of the spring exhibitions will be in Omaha and one of the fall tournaments at Iowa St in Ames Iowa (not too bad a drive from verm) It was nice seeing Elizabeth smiling again. But she has a LONG LONG journey to go if she makes it back. She's lost about 20 lbs of muscle, and that would be harder to put back on then lose. I wish her well whatever her future is.

Spring Schedule?
Looks like they will play Augie on 4/6 (Thursday) - I'll assume that will be in the Pentagon? Maybe on-campus. Good opportunity for SF Yote fans to attend!

Just released another "Behind the scenes" video this spring. This one is focused on the newer players that got playing time (Farris, Wooden, Wolff):

I was curious if anyone attended the match last evening against University of Sioux Falls and provide their assessment of how it went.

We went and watched the girls play Augie last night. It was fun to get back in the gym and watch some volleyball. It was very much a practice, but that's what these things are for. We got to see some players that typically don't play and saw some rotations we haven't seen before. Not that it matters too much, but they split the four set match - winning two and losing two. If there were any questions about who would get the lion's share of the work without Juhnke, there aren't now. Evelyn got a ton of sets and seems to be really hitting the ball well, so she'll be the featured outside going forward. At least that what it looks like to me.

Contrract Extension! Well-deserved, and glad to see it This might be a top achievement in Herbster's tenure here. Leanne has been courted by a lot of big name programs and he's managed to keep her around. It's not very often we have a championship level coach that wants to stay in Vermilion

Contract Extension! Well-deserved, and glad to see it This might be a top achievement in Herbster's tenure here. Leanne has been courted by a lot of big name programs and he's managed to keep her around. It's not very often we have a championship level coach that wants to stay in VermilionFrom what I have heard, the fact that Leanne is still here has more to do with the bolded above, and not the strikethrough text. Our admin had been slow to recognize her value and potential for leaving, in terms of compensation, before her previous raise and contract extension. If she didn't truly want to be here, she could have easily left by now. Multiple times. She has decided that she wants to see how far she can go in building the program, and genuinely enjoys living in Vermillion. I'm just glad everyone seems to be on the same page now, and she is being rewarded for her loyalty. (Her achievements kind of speak for themselves, at this point) Leanne and her staff (and all the amazing student-athletes) have built this program into a consistently elite mid-major in a recruiting hotbed for this sport (upper Midwest). Not only that, but she has turned the program into a revenue sport at USD (or at least a program that loses less money than other sports, I don't know the numbers). A fan favorite that has drawn ncaa top-40 home crowds for the past three or four years. We used to talk about the "big three" fan interest sports of Football, MBB and WBB. Now we talk about our "big four" programs. Only an idiot would neglect Coach Williamson, at this point IMHO. I think this is a really critical point in the program's growth, with the consistently high-quality recruiting classes she has lined up over the next couple of years. Similar to when AJ decided to stay in Brookings. The VB program now has some serious momentum, and the news that Leanne is sticking around should be very bad news to all the other Summit coaches. We could be gearing up for a longer run of championships and NCAA appearances. Seems like she is building some pipelines to some of the best High Schools and AAU clubs in this region. I'm only going by twitter follows, but the 2025 class might end up being just as star-studded as the 2023 and 2024 classes. Pokharel, Wardlow and Hayes are being pursued by high-majors, but I feel good about our chances. Just a hunch. And Meister from Harrisburg is no slouch, either. We should find out about that class this summer. All good things to get excited for. The next step is to follow this up with another year of record season ticket sales, just like last year! I think it will happen.

While all of what you have bolded is true one could also imply is that when things go wrong on the coaching front Herbster's to blame but gets no credit when things go right.
