Ok boys, we're a month away from kicking the season off in Colorado Springs against the Air Force Academy. I know it's been a long, hot summer but those days are soon to give way to a cool autumn breeze. Talk is turning in the local circles away from the baseball season to football. Our group just secured our tailgate spot for the season and I'm expecting my season tix to come in the mail any day now.
So what's the predictions for the season? I predict we'll go 7-4 and win the Great West. Biggest game will be a win over the defending National Champs from Eastern Washington in the Dome. Most crushing defeat, Wisconsin, but I think most of us are prepared for that. It'll be sweet to turn Camp Randall into a Sea of Red. Make sure to wear your Coyote Red to the game so the nation can see on TV how well South Dakota fans travel. The sweetest victory will be the last game of the year when we take North Dakota to the woodshed in their own house and close out that series on our terms. I'll save some room in my vehicle so Sitting Bull has a ride back home.

Now will a SDSU Fan such as myself be able to distinguish the USD fans from Wisconsin fans since both will be wearing red. Appearences can be deceiving sometimes. Are you claiming some of the Wisconsin fans already since they too will be wearing red .

Nidaros, it will be easy to distinguish on TV. South Dakota has the better color red. Everyone knows that. Just watch the game and you'll be able to figure it out.
You know, the same thing would probably happen if we ever scheduled Nebraska. I've heard they've been dodging us because they are also jeolous of our better shade of red, that and they know we would take over their stadium too.

Leaning toward 6-5 (3-5 against D1 opponents) (3-2 against FCS opponents) If it plays out this way is that acceptable and would it be considered progress?
Air Force - Loss by 30 - Option game will wear down and expose a challenged USD defense. Ugly...
Eastern Washington - Loss by less than a TD in a high scoring game (valiant effort, but not enough to overcome a confident EW club - a high scoring version of last years UNI game in the Dome.)
NW Oklahoma St - Win by 35 - Ed will run it up in the first half then take the foot off the accelerator and rest the starters for next week
Wisconsin - Loss by 50 - Wisconsin loves to run up the score and has the ability to do it
Lindenwood - Win by 35
Southern Utah - Not even close this year - USD wins by two touchdowns
Illinois St - Loss by 10 as SDSU fans speculate as to USD's future demise in MVFC
UC Davis - Win - Another close game in the Dome with USD hitting all Xpts and wining by less than a TD
Cal Poly - Loss - close hard fought game USD loses by less than 10
Missouri S&T - Win - USD wins by 14
North Dakota - USD wins by a TD for the first win in Grand Forks in a really long time.

I would agree with Wedge Breaker almost completely with the exception of the Missouri S & T score. We beat them 34-3 on D-Days 2008. Three more years of D1 recruits against the same D2 players equals a much more lopsided final score. I would guess 49-10.

We either lose to EWU or Ill St, one of the two. I predict we "shock" EWU (it wouldn't shock me, though) and lose to ISU because it is on the road. That's how I got to 7-4 with 1 conference loss out at Cal Poly. Agree that the Yotes blow the doors off of Mizzery S&T.

My 2$ on your upcoming season:
Air Force: L -- option FB
Eastern Washington: L -- EWU has a ton of talent returning
NO State: W -- better beat these guys
Wisconsin: L -- by at least 4 TDs
Lindenwood: W -- know nothing about them....are they NAIA?
SUU: L -- T-birds will be good this year
Ill State: L -- they were young last year and it is on the road
UC Davis: W -- could go either way
Cal Poly: L -- tough road game
Missouri S T: W -- DII team?
UND: L -- could go either way
IMO.....Coyotes could finish anywhere from 4-7 to 6-5.
USD will be a good addition to the MV next year.
