What is said on the message board on Bisonville isn't what Taylor said basically. With all of the scheduling of UND, I don't think there is really a grudge there. Actions speak louder than a message board right now.

Actions speak louder than a message board right now. I agree, at various times during the transition period various people kind of annoyed one another. I would think Taylor would be in favor of both being in the MVFC. As a SDSU fan who would rather be playing USD then Nebraska tomorrow, but its about money, I think SDSU and NDSU would be fools to vote against UND and USD admission to MVFC. I suspect Indiana State and Youngstown might be the negative votes and thats based on geography and having to make two trips to the Dakotas every season, but then again they might not have to if we can get the total members up to twelve and we split into two divisions and play maybe 3 games with the other division of the MVFC. Even the extra travel for YSU and ISU might not be a big problem if they set up a fund for the team with the most travel, like the NCC did for UNC when they invited them into the NCC. Yes some of UNC travel was offset by other conference members along I-29, for trips to UM-Duluth and SCSU and Mankato if they had to face more than one in one season on the road. UNO could be the best candidate for the twelfth member. They have a very popular NU guy Treb Albert as AD. I have not heard much about his progress since taking over b ut if he can put things together we have another Ex NCC member. A conference opening and invite might get people off the dime in Omaha. I do not know of any negativism against USD by the SDSU adminstration and the fact that we could not get together on a 5 year contract might have been because of the possiblity of USD and UND becoming MVFC members.

For years, I've been agitating to dump Youngstown along the highway. No geo fit, losing program, nothing in common with them any longer. They belong in something in the east, like the OVC, of which they were a member for one season in the early 80's. They won their four champies years ago as an independent, so piss on 'em, let 'em go indy again.
I would like to see UND and USD get into the Valley, but, I don't believe teams like Minnesota State and UNO and some of the others you guys are talking about will be invited. Teams like that would dilute the prestige of the conference, in my opinion only.
It's a solid conference with mostly solid programs, no need to go further west than we already are. We're in the Chicago media market, the MSP and the STL media markets and that's plenty good.

I think Youngstown State could be on the way out of the MVFC if Villanova moves up to the Big East, which I put as a 95 percent possibility. The CAA would look to fill that spot and Youngstown State would be a really good fit I think.
Nidaros brings up a very good point. Look at the contract with NDSU. USD is going up there weekend, and NDSU will come back to Verm in 2013. After that there is another thing saying USD will go up there in a the future and such and such, but if USD is in the MVFC, then that contract becomes a mute point. SDSU's schedule is full in 2011 basically and both teams had bad timing for a game this year. I think both are trying to work for 2012, but I think the talks haven't been as serious because of USD's possibility to be a MVFC member by 2012.

I agree #1 but I have to disagree with the Cap'n on one point. I think if Minnesota State dedicated themselves to and fully funded their athletic dept they could make a great addition to the MVFC and FCS as a whole. They have a large student population and nice facilities. They could step in to D1 and be facility ready Day 1, maybe a few slight upgrades to their football stadium (Blakeslee, I think) would be necessary. Don't judge them by the recent state of their programs. I think they would do well if the UofM-TC would ever let them make the move.

But with the recent state of the programs, it would put them way too far behind to fund a D-I move. Yes, football is the bellcow, but the fact is Mankato's football program doesn't have the backing to support all of the athletics. Mankato would have to be 10-15 years until they could realistically move D-I. Mankato is what it is, a public school version of Augustana.

Me and the Little Cats have been to several games ther in the last three-four years and the football stadium at MSU is for sh*t and not becoming a DI program. Yeah, they could fix it up, but that would take years and cash, something neither MSU nor the state of Minnesota has right now, nor will they in the near future. Still, another institution close to the MPLS media hub would be valuable. They are a hockey school, anyway. ;D

Yes, I agree, MSU is way behind right now, I'm just looking at potential. Wow, when you labeled them the public school version of Augie, that was awesome.
What's with the negative karma? I am like the most non karma person around. I used to not care but -4 is bothering me.
