Week 4 Update (Dec 4)
I updated the first post to have all the weekly standings and NET rankings.
It's hard to comment on how good teams are going to be this year due to the uneven non-con schedules... SDSU ORU and NDSU seem to be living up to the preseason ranking, but I don't feel like any of them are unbeatable. I think there will be a ton of parity in the men's race this year. More even than on the women's side.
I was looking at "good wins" and "bad losses" so far for Summit Men's teams... there are too many "bad losses" to compile. Almost every team has one or two. Here's what I found for good wins:
St Thomas over Portland State (NET#70) ORU over Tulsa (NET#178)

Week 5 Update:
I've posted new NET rankings for the league in the first post... USD increased slightly, and moved up from 7th to 6th place.
I think the bigger trend is that as a mid-major conference it's good to have at least one or two teams close to or just inside a #100 ranking. This year we don't have that yet, and likely won't. SDSU leads the conference with a #145 rank, and the upper half are between 145 and 190, with the lower half in the 200s. So that points to some parity, but we already knew that.
Another surprise to me is Denver. Picked last in the preseason, but sitting 4-4 with a #155 NET ranking. They don't really have a good win, though. Best was beating #196 Nichols State 91-85 (quadrant 3 win). They do have a couple of bad losses. Their most impressive game might be a recent 10-point loss to AP#13 Colorado State.
SDSU's most recent game is probably their best win. They beat #97 Wichita State on the road 79-69.
ORU took #80 Kansas State to overtime a couple of weeks ago, tied at 72-72, but were then dominated in OT 6-16
Upcoming big non-con games (almost every day):
Tuesday 8PM ORU at #74 Texas Tech (ESPN+)
Wednesday 8PM Denver at AP#14 BYU (ESPN+)
Thursday 7PM St Thomas @ AP#8 Marquette (Fox Sports 1)
Saturday 9PM USD @ #69 UC-Irvine (ESPN+)
Sunday 4PM ORU @ #136 Oklahoma State (ESPN+)

Week 6 Update:
I've posted new NET rankings for the league in the first post... These rankings for the men are moving around a lot. I just think there is a ton of parity and not enough data to solidify rankings.
Denver continues to rise in the NET rankings, taking over the top spot.
The only game I would classify as surprising would be Omaha beating #271 Stetson at home 88-80. They weren't favored.
Upcoming big non-con games:
Tuesday 7PM NDSU @ #102 Southern Illinois (ESPN+)
Wednesday 6:30PM North Dakota @ #51 Nebraska (BTN+)

I guess we DID catch that roadrunner once... That could be the problem. This team runs all over the court erratically. They're leaderless in that fashion. Like my old high school coach emphasized, if you don't have the numbers on a fast break and there aren't any rebounders, don't shoot the ball unless it's a layup or a very short jumper. Pull the ball out and set up.

Let's look ahead a little to the Summit/Big Sky challenge... NET rank comparison: Rnk | Summit | Rnk | B Sky | vs | - | - | 113 | Port St | @ KC | - | - | 120 | Weber St | SDSU, @ ORU | 146 | Den | 133 | Montana | @ NDSU, USD | 175 | St Thom | 179 | E Wash | @ USD, NDSU | 186 | Oral Rob | - | - |

Similar to the women's teams, the Big Sky's upper and lower tiers are a little better than the Summit's. Sac State is also terrible in both sports.

updated standings and NET rankings in the first post. The men's side is kinda all-over the place for NET ranking. Interesting to see both St Thomas and Denver at the top, currently.
I feel like there are a lot of teams that will have head-scratching outcomes from week to week. The conference is there for the taking, if a team has some consistency.
