Disclosure: I like Mick, I understand the lack of USD coverage is a business decision and I realize this has been discussed ad nausem.
Throw us a bone here AL and give me a reason to read your sports section in regards to USD. Our coverage is pathetic and lacks zero inside to our program. I don't care if State gets 20 articles to our one but geez at least give me something.

But whatever do you mean? Haven't you seen Stu's latest blog? Does his best to insult SDSU and give USD backhanded compliments and refers to us as needing to do more to kick the "little brother" label. Nice insulting blog all the way around. stuviews.tumblr.com/Or could you be referring to the in-depth analysis and multiple SDSU articles, twitters, and blogs that Terry V has been providing? The last USD news was about the tragic death of Desmond Allison. Thanks for the coverage AL, and you wonder why USD people don't subscribe to your rag.

This is EXACTLY why i read the Yankton P&D for USD news.
They actually seem to realize USD is a Division I school and their coverage reflects it.

Great. One has to wait for media day to get any scoop from the AL concerning USD. I imagine the article will provide insight to the possible improvements to the Dome Dog and/or whether the new seats are the correct color of red. You are also being optimistic on the possibility of stories. I would take ONE decent some what in depth article over the low level coverage we have received lately.

Speaking of media day, P&D guys said this week on their chat that they're webstreaming USD's media day next week.
Plus, their chat is now 11 a.m.-noon on Wednesdays. I wasnt ever able to follow along when it was later in the day, so now im pretty excited
So there's some good coverage to look forward to

I guess we should give credit when it is due. Nice writeup on the Coyotes in this weekend's paper.
They did cover every area school, but still, it was a good piece.

This thread is getting old. USD was listed first. The USD story was posted at 11:59 PM on August 13th and the SDSU story was put up second at 12:01 AM on August 14th. SDSU was listed first on the list Sunday because USD had the nice picture and call out box on the left. You can go to the sports link below and see the order and the times under top news. Go soon though because after the next sports update they will be bumped off. I have a screen capture of it but I don't really want to go to the effort of putting it into photo bucket and listing it here because it doesn't really matter. Sorry if I sound frustrated. I just want to come here and read about more then the Argus Leader. www.argusleader.com/section/sports?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|Sports|more

Guest - a simple solution to your problem. If you don't want to read about the Argus Leader coverage of the Yotes, then simply ignore a thread titled "Argus Leader Coverage".

If there wasn't a problem, we wouldn't be talking about it. Sunday's piece was fluff. The little exposure I have had to Mick's writing shows me a decent journalist with no support for substance from above - "So why should I bother with the drive". I'm not asking for a tabloid/Miami/Auburn report, but how about a weekly in-depth and thoughtful page with a coordinator or starter?
This is the place to get and give practical ideas along with constructive criticism. Hopefully we can get a lot more regular contribution from posters, while giving the Argus Lagger some food for thought.
I think Mick is as frustrated as we are.

Furthermore...
I get the feeling the Lagger still treats the U as the unimportant D-II living in a van down by the river. (Always fun to slip in a Saturday Night Live reference)
What is the U doing to give them some fodder? I know writers for the school paper are always in Verm over summer. Why doesn't the school imbed 2 reporters in each sport to creat beat reports and features. Many schools do that along with having a senior player write a weekly blog.
What do we hear/think about the individual teams on next season's schedules. No trash talk, but a pre-season update on their off season moves and how it will affect USD. Air Force and Wisconsin have been talking about us - 45 and 70 point losses, respectively.
Without more frequent indepth articles, we will find it hard to recruit enough talent to do more than get a few upsets. And how will the pros scout our players abilities to play the game versus just their size, if nobody writes anything?
