Interesting that Grace was NOT picked pre-season POY for the Summit, ... and yet she is the only Summit player on the Her Hoop Stats / Becky Hammon mid-major POY preseason watch list?  (total 25 players)  Weird.

First POW for Grace.... won't be the last...

Larkins averaged 26.5 points, eight rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals for the week in leading the Coyotes to a pair of nonconference wins over Northern Iowa and LMU. She shot 64.3 percent (18-of-28) from the field on the week. Her 53 points were the ninth-most in the nation last week.



The native of Altoona, Iowa, recorded her first double-double of the season against UNI with 28 points and 11 rebounds. She also handed out six assists in the Coyotes' 84-65 victory. She followed that up with a 25-point, five rebound and five steal performance in the USD's 78-73 road win at LMU on Sunday.



Larkins leads the Summit League in total points, rebounds and assists this season.

I mean, sounds like POY-type-numbers to me... but I don't get to vote for that

I can't believe she was not the pre season POY pick but she is no doubt the best player in the summit. Things did not look good yesterday and Grace just took over to lead us to victory

Grace leads the Summit in those categories because the Coyotes have played more games. Those are cumulative, not per game numbers. But, like last year, she is right near the top in scoring, rebounding, and assists. And she is shooting 50 percent. I agree she should have been voted pre-season POY, but it doesn’t really matter. I thought, given that she was top three in scoring, rebounds, assists, and was it also steals(?), and no one had ever even been top five in each category, that she should have been POY last year given her record-breaking year in those significant categories.

Kendall Holmes, Player of the Week!





Over the week she averaged 16.5 points while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and making nine 3-pointers. Her nine 3-pointers were the fourth-most by any player in the nation last week. She added four assists, three rebounds and three steals between the two games.

Another one for Grace!





Larkins averaged 19 points, six rebounds and 4.6 assists per game during the month of December. She knocked down shots at a 50 percent clip from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc.



A native of Altoona, Iowa, Larkins surpassed 1,000 career points on New Year's Eve against Omaha. She recorded three 20-point games and one double-double during the month.

South Dakota junior guard Grace Larkins was voted to the all-Summit League first team for the second consecutive season by the league's coaches, media, and sports information directors. In addition, fourth-year junior guard Kendall Holmes was named to the Summit League all-newcomer team.
