The Coopers were a fun crew. Tom, or Bomber, was a classmate. Sad ending.

Will Leyland boots a 37 yard field goal as time expires, Coyotes win 23-20, the crowd goes crazy, and the Bison (if they were lucky enough to get tickets) go home with excuses.

Any word on who ABC is sending for this game? It’s going to be incredible to see a nationally known sideline reporter stalking around the Dome.

I'm not going to say it's the "A team" but much better than some of the Jr. High productions we see on the road. Roy Philpott (play-by-play), Roddy Jones (analyst) and Lauren Sisler (Sideline)

Interesting fact on 78 team. 3 draft picks. Schwab to Packers. Ben Long to Miami. Bill Moats as a punter to Packers. And that was the D-2 era I recall well the 1978 team. I missed only one home game at Inman Field during the three football seasons I was in Vermillion (hurts to write these seasons down: '76, '77 and '78 -- there must be a 25-year mistake!) There are several qualities this year's Yotes have in common with the '78 team. The most notable, seems to me, is the confidence level displayed by this year's team -- I thought the 1978 team started each game knowing they had a legitimate shot at winning irrespective of the opponent. They weren't arrogant: a 1-3 start in 1978 made sure of that. By the end of the '78 season, there wasn't a noticeable weakness on the team. I think this year's team is playing with the confidence one finds on really good teams. [Well, let me backtrack: The 1978 team had a defensive end from Ida Grove, IA. I wondered about that guy. But, I guess he turned out okay: Opposing teams didn't like to use his side of the field. Okay, he is a USD Hall of Fame 2001 Inductee. Sometimes he reads this message board. Never mind.] I'll be in my seat at SDSU's game on Saturday. The Jacks will get a strong challenge from Villanova -- they've played in Brookings in December before. I will also be interested in hearing how the NDSU at USD game turns out. I think NDSU is playing some of its best football of the season and the Bison memory of losing to USD in Fargo probably hasn't faded. On the other hand, USD has established itself in the top of the conference and earned the #3 playoff seed -- no doubt the 'Yotes also remember the regular-season win in Fargo. My guess is the USD team laughs off those who want to drag up a cliche "it's hard to beat a team twice in the same season." Did you let your son get a hold of your log in credentials?

It was a win in Fargo that helped catapult South Dakota to its most successful DI season. Now it's those same tradition-rich Bison that stand between USD and a spot in the FCS semifinals.

Final thoughts. Tomorrow is the biggest game in program history. Our team is made for this moment. If we eliminate turnovers, minimize penalties, and play our game then we will be rewarded with a victory. There will be swings of highs and lows. If we want respect, we have to earn it. No better team to welcome to the Dome than NDSU. I have tremendous amount of respect for the Bison. We need every Coyote fan to pack the dome and expect to stand the whole game. We cannot look ahead on the bracket. Take tomorrow one snap at a time. If you have a second, take the time to record tomorrow’s game on TV. We will talk about tomorrow for a long, long time. I am confident in our offense, but I love our defense even more. Time to let it rip. Let’s go!

Tomorrow is the biggest game in program history, so far. I don't like getting hung up on that in the moment though. Reflect on it later. Stay loose, enjoy the game, avoid the anxiety, keep your hair (apologies to our older posters who may have something to say about that).
My only predictions for the game are a brawl and beer lines out the door.

Cousin Eddie: Nope. As I write this message, that son and two other guys from Twin Cities that you know from law school days, are traveling to the middle of the state to hunt pheasants with more people you know. They'll be tuning in to the game broadcast. They stopped on the way through town and we met for pizza...heard some repeats of stories from Yotemeal's bachelor party -- pretty sure your name came up. Regards.

Watching the Montana game. If FURMAN could win and we were fortunate enough to win we would host semi final game.
10 minutes into the game it’s tied 14-14. Crazy game
