Nice to win when we didn't play our best

Didn't play particularly well but managed to find a way to win a game a long way from home. I'll take it.

Kieffer played very well in OT ball handling and knocking down FTs!
Lady Yotes played some good D but still needs more consistency!
A road win is always good especially on one of the coasts to show fly over country can play bb too!!

after a bad 3rd quarter where we were out hustled we seem to forget to box out. But played good when it counted. Larkins again played great but it was Kieffer who made some big shots in overtime. She reminds me of a young Allison Arens. Good weekend for the Yotes.

Kieffer is fun to watch. She does not play like a freshman, and remains as cool as a cucumber when under pressure. I hope we get to see a lot more of her as the season progresses. Our inability to box out underneath on defense is a real problem for us and something that we need to fix sooner than later. When you consistently give your opponent two and three chances to make a basket, they're eventually going to do it, get fouled, or both.

I'm a long way away from complaining about any win, especially on the road. Nice weekend for both basketball teams pulling out a couple of cliffhangers!

Road wins are good wins. Big shot by Hempe. Larkins did her thing. Kieffer showed a ton of poise in a close game. Everybody kept their heads and took a win when the opportunity presented itself.
There’s probably a lot to nitpick about this team but they chalked up a W on the road. The whole season comes down to winning a game or two like this in Sioux Falls, and while I don’t think any Summit semi or final team is going to cough up a lead quite like LMU did there late, it’s still a great experience to have in the memory bank for later.

It was a fun game to watch. On a sidenote, the LMU coach was an assistant at New Mexico the year Hannah was there. She was actually Hannah‘s posts coach, so I can understand why their team is very strong in the post. Her last coaching job was at USC, and they were in Las Vegas when we went there in 2019. During our game against Ohio State, she stood near the sidelines and cheered for Hannah. She is a very classy lady, and I’m happy to see her succeeding at LMU. Just not against the Yotes… 😀

She's very poised and well rounded for a freshman. She has a bright future.

Great OT win on the road. It sounds like it wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win. I am curious though why the turnover issue and poor offensive rebounding seems to be so prevalent. Is this just a result of a more fast paced offense? Our defense is better than last year but I don’t think we’re good enough to sustain such a high turnover ratio and poor rebounding for an entire season. I’m sure the coaching staff is working on it but maybe we need to clamp down on just those two basics a little bit.

After her, there’s not really a ton of ball handling and what there is is kind of inexperienced and/or not very quick or big. That just kind of puts you into spots where you get flustered and make mistakes. The o-rebounding is kinda similar. They’re just not really that big or athletic.

When your best combo of size, strength and quickness is a D-II grad transfer I think that says why you’re struggling on the glass a bit.

The rebounding issue is a combination of things. Sometimes we don't have position. Sometimes we have position and don't attempt to get the ball. Our bigs don't generally jump for rebounds. That hurt us today. Lmu jumped over our girls the entire game. There maybe could have been some over the back fouls but we don't get off the ground so we don't force the refs to make the calls.
Our best rebounders are Grace and DePerry who mostly get it done with constant hustle. As a previous poster mentioned, that is the state of our post rotation right now.
