Our best lineup tonight was Larkins, Kieffer, Hempe, DePerry, and Avila-Ambrosi. Small, but our best athletes. That lineup won us this game. It’s match-ups obviously but it’s so much fun to have options to do it as opposed to a season ago.

Today seemed like a mentality thing. Our players standing as if waiting for the ball to come to them. I've never watched a game where I had to yell "Go get the ball!" so many times.

No coach in the history of the world has ever told any player they want them “not going for rebounds.” Today seemed like a mentality thing. Our players standing as if waiting for the ball to come to them. I've never watched a game where I had to yell "Go get the ball!" so many times. Maybe. I think it’s probably a bit of a horsepower issue too.

I don't think they actually played all that well, but as I said last week the level of fight and spirit is so much better than last year. Having a deeper, better roster is surely a big part of that. But they seem much more connected, especially on the defensive end.
I implied this last week, but I think the possession game is going to continue to be a struggle, mainly due to personnel, but they can (and need to) improve if they want to have a shot in Sioux Falls.
Mazurek didn't play in the 2nd half, I don't believe. That was a little telling. Some of that was LMU going small due to foul trouble and Kayla matching up, but she was on the floor when some of those rebounds occurred in the 1Q, and she didn't have a rebound in 10 minutes. She does some things really well. She is skilled as a passer, especially in the high post. She has a nice touch. But she's not a good "out of area" rebounder and I don't think she will be. On the other hand, she hadn't played for a year and a half before a month ago, and they need both her and Walker this year and next.
Onward and upward. Always good to win a game like that.

Wow. the deleted post that still exists in a quote in this thread. Maybe if you are an influential person in a USD player's life, and you are actively trying to convince them to transfer out... probably don't post that here. Unless you just don't give a crap, and want to troll us. Ridiculous to post that here. And very unfair to the player. Even if the player voiced frustration to the poster, I highly doubt she wanted it made public on a message board.

He's probably some relative or ex AAU coach who wants to get something from someone to get her to transfer. Or he's bragging to his buddies how he coached her up when she was younger. Too many people like this in basketball who try and insert themselves into players lives for their own benefit. He's posted here before and has always seemed to be someone who tries too hard to impress everyone with his knowledge of the game.

Hey dbyote...perhaps you could delete your post that quotes the original post?

Yeah I was kind of thinking a mod or db might want to delete the final vestiges of the convo from last night for everybody’s sake.

Wild. I hope it was just a momentary lapse in judgment and the influence there is minimal at best.

Wild. I hope it was just a momentary lapse in judgment and the influence there is minimal at best. I mean, we were one of the very few teams in the country with no attrition to the portal last offseason, ... so I think they are a tight-knit group with good culture. I doubt that there is only one player on the team with people from back home in their ear advising transfer options. These players want to be here.

It’s very hard when you have a dog in the fight to not react. Golden rule I have lived by is to wait 24 hours before replying or saying anything. Then decide if I still want to say it. Turns out that I usually don’t.

Totally. I completely get it and actually sympathize a bit. Everybody wants to see their favorite players do well, especially when their favorite players are close friends or relatives. It's easy to get frustrated and let that boil over sometimes.
