Much more organized on defense today but I don't think this Idaho state team is very talented. Still too many turnovers but a much better effort for sure.
Grace may be the best rebounding guard we've ever had. And it's all hustle and tremendous feel for the game. It's a shame we don't have a little more around her. She'll have all timer stats but might be somewhat forgotten because of the teams she was on in terms of post season success in her later years

Good win, but that Bengal team is not good. But glad to see an expected result.
Way too many turnovers again, and it wasn't because the opponent was long and athletic. It was mainly careless passes. And the chief offender was Grace Larkins. I counted today...all six of her turnovers were on passes that didn't have a chance to get there, often on passes into the post. I think she's just trying to make a play and she sees something, but the window closes before she can get the pass there. Sometimes she pre-determines what she is going to do. As the chief (only?) playmaker, perhaps she is just trying to make something happen.
Look, she's obviously their best player, but more judicious passing would serve her well. She set up a couple easy strong-side threes just by making a quick step to the right on a dribble-drive. She can be a really good passer, but forcing it like she did today was pretty glaring.

Grace should be required to watch game tape of Nicole Seekamp, possibly the greatest passer in the history of Coyote WBB. She was incredible.

Idk…. I still go back to Mike Leach’s views on the idiocy of trying to teach a QB to be accurate. Grace Larkins is an AMAZING player, and I’m so grateful I get to watch her play in a Coyote uniform this season and hopefully the next.
But that doesn’t mean anyone is going to be able to teach her to pass the ball like Nicole Seakamp.
Give NAA PG duties, and draw up some plays to utilize Grace’s unique abilities…. Be that as a scorer or a decoy to draw double/triple teams.
Or make Kieffer the starting PG, I don’t know.
Let’s stop trying to make Grace anything but what she is, and just design the offense around that woman.

Seakamp was a unbelievable great passer but Larkins is just as good a scorer and better at rebounding. I am sure the coaches talk to her, but she makes the team go. Yesterdays game was well played by the girls good comeback win after Montana. Idaho state has a poor record but played some good teams down to the wire. Big game Thursday against OR

I am sure the team and coaches will have a little extra motivation against ORU with the way last season ended against the Golden Eagles at the SLT.

Side note: Somebody finally figured out how to do an alternate grey BB uniform and have it look good.... The problem with grey is that it's halfway between dark and light, so to make the letters/numbers stand out you have to line light letters with a dark color (white and red in this uniform), or line dark letters with a light color. The combo of white red and grey really work here. Add to that the 70s retro multi-color striped collar/hems that was already part of the Yotes' uniforms over the past couple of years, and these unis are winners. Literally winners. They are 1-0 in them.

Old school unis are always the best unis. Agreed. I never could get used to those ultra baggy, below-the-knee shorts and I hope that we never have to see them again in either men's or women's basketball.

Oh, I prefer the long shorts. I just like the old school scripts and lines.
