Coach addressed our defensive problems after we had a 8 point lead. She said we have to get better. She praised Natalie Mazurek who has stepped up her game

I'm concerned that there's not much hope of getting better defensively when you're watching highlights of a team that had two kids go 9-16 from deep (on completely wide open looks) as you're forced to play a 2-3 zone because nobody on your team seems able to stop, or is interested in stopping, dribble penetration. Not stopping drives/falling asleep on cuts and having a coach talking about getting her kids to compete is a bad sign.

She might make a good division 3 coach.

Kayla a good coach. Her first recruiting class is next year we have a few portal players she has got us but she didn't bring in the other players. SDSU coach stays so he has his program for years We have the last 2 coaches in the Big Ten which is great. 2 players went in the portal who be starting now so that didn't help. What counts I guess is the tournament in SF. lets wait maybe we can surprise fans

SoutH Dakota went 1-for-2 last week, but the victory at St. Thomas was certainly one to remember. Coach Karius broke down Tori DePerry's game-winner and the rest of the week that was for the Coyotes during our weekly conversation.

First I’d rather be publicly critical of the person making a good living to perform and coach than to put down an entire roster of 18-22 year olds. Last year the excuse was we were too injured(AJ is lucky to never have to deal with injuries…..)and now we are healthy and it’s wait until we get her players. Aren’t Grange, deperry, Holmes, and ambrosi all her transfers? There was a potential summit league player of the year on the roster the first day of the job, plus a roster littered with kids who held sdsu, ndsu, and all kinds of summit offers. I don’t buy just blaming the roster.

That potential Summit League player of the year on the roster the first day of the job averaged 6 points a night on 42 percent shooting with a negative AST/TO ratio the season before the current staff came on board. If you're going to take credit from the staff you also have to give it where it's due.

Losing Bergstrom,Carson and Grange didn't help. But I not ready to give up on the season.

I’m just saying I don’t like the its all on the roster excuse. 3 of the top 5 mpg are girls picked by the current staff. It is pretty clear watching the games that both the staff and the girls need to be doing a better job. And Grace was our second leading scorer in a sweet 16 game vs Michigan playing 23 minutes as a freshman. Let’s not act like she wasn’t any good that year. She was a freshman and most could tell she was going to be pretty good.

She scored nine points. Let's not start pretending that you were on the Grace Larkins as Summit League POY train before Karius unleashed her.

I don’t think anyone was. And why would we have been. She was a freshman. She had some of the most talented players we have had on the floor with her. It was inevitable that regardless of who the coach was going to be after graduating that crew that she would be unleashed. Wasn’t hard to see her potential. I also agree with the fact that we can’t use the excuse that we don’t have players that the current coach recruited. The transfer portal makes the argument null and void. I’m not ready to point fingers anywhere. Some things take time. We may need to ride out a bumpy year.
