Turnovers were better. Not sure if that tells us much because of who we were playing. Offense looked disorganized yet at times, but offense seems to be our strength. We are just not very good defensively many have trouble keeping their girl out of the paint and our zone rotations are bad. All things we can work on and I am sure we are. Speaking on Grange , I am not sure where her minutes will come from as we look set on going with what we are going with. My biggest concern is next year. We have three that will be done, one of those with significant minutes. That will leave us with once again a pretty deep bench and a very similar look. Is their growth there? We didn’t red shirt anyone this year which surprised me. I think the hope would be that one of the incoming freshmen will be a player who can help right away, and I think Klosterbuer is an elite scorer. Defense is a question there. I also think the additional year of experience for all these returnees will really help. But I don't think the Jacks will lose a conference game next year. They will have three first-team pre-season players (and really a fourth) plus a possible generational talent in their incoming freshman class. Then in 2025 they will likely have three first-teamers in the preseason again. Tall task for the Yotes.

Three of our starters played less than half the game, and our starting five scored 55% of our total points, with the remainder coming from the bench. Our first substitutions were coming in before many of the fans had taken the first sips of their sodas. The makeup of this team has changed and I'm wondering if we have the right personnel setting the pace on the opening tip. It didn't happen last night, but in the two previous games Mazurek and Duffney started the second half. There is no doubt they are claiming bigger roles right now.

Not sure on NAA vs Hempe... both of them have advantages/ detractions. NAA is the more athletic, quicker one. Great defensively. But she had zero assists and zero rebounds in that game vs Hempe's 2 and 7. Hempe also played double the minutes, so there's that.

Hempe's offensive effectiveness is so matchup-dependent and her defense leaves a lot to be desired. NAA isn't ever going to give you a ton offensively but on a team that struggles to stay in front of people I don't know that you want to remove her from the starting lineup.

There's even a 2nd walk-on other than Mason, but it hasn't been made public who that is. Three players graduating: Grange DePerry and Hansen Two players coming in: Coons and Wilke. So at MOST we would have one extra schollie for a portal player, unless someone else leaves. I don't think that Hansen is the walk-on, because we have offered Swedish player Tairat Samuel in the 2024 class.

I have no allegiance to either school other than I was born and raised in South Dakota. I like watching women’s basketball at all levels. I started following USD for a couple reasons. 1. Everyone else was following SDSU and I like to be different. 2. I loved watching the SD girls (Duffy and Lamb to name a few). 3. The crew that went to sweet sixteen was special to watch. You could feel it! We are going to be hard pressed to pull in any causal fans like myself with what SDSU has going on the next couple years.

Next year SDSU will have 8 SD girls and 2 Iowa girls whose home towns are a combined 2-3 miles from the SD border. There is always room on the wagon! jackwannabe has a nice ring to it!
