I see the Yotes added a Watertown station today for broadcasts. I also noticed that we have a new color voice. Thoughts?

Still no coverage in south central SD. We Need An eXpanded coverage area - perhaps a flagship station with a stronger signal.

As a Watertown resident and former player, this is LONG overdue.
Based on the sports coverage and retail sporting goods stores in Watertown, you wouldn't even know that USD exists. Everything that is sold or covered by the media in Watertown is Bunny-Blue. Makes me want to puke.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of one bar in Watertown that has a USD helmet proudly displayed in it thanks to a former Yote.
One year, two posts. You need to grace us with your presence more often.

With that said, I don't get some stores having NDSU or UND stuff!?! But, this Jackrabbit fan likes seeing the Yellow and Blue in Target and JC Penneys. I'm pleased to hear a Watertown station will carry USD. I've been interested in following the scores and in the past it was about impossible because we couldn't get USD games in Watertown. Sure, I'm going to go to WNAX and the Jacks first but it'll be nice to follow USD too.

Back to the original question, thoughts on the new color analyst, Steve Thum.
In two words: THANK YOU.
Glad RJ Pattison isn't doing color anymore, it was unbearable to listen to. And Steve Thum has done a great job with broadcasts, including Yankton football games (among others) last fall.

KVOR out of Colorado Springs will broadcast the game tomorrow at kvor.com/ if you aren't in an area to get your team. I'm sure you would prefer your own announcer, but this one is pretty fair, and we think he's a good one. It available on-line, and it's free.

Yeah, it seems RJ Pattison got the KABOOM out of the color spot. He has grace as the color guy, but it is too often overshadowed by blatant, childish homerish. It's like he went way out of his way for the "oh jeez, slap your knee, blame everything on the ref," mentality and the "call it both ways" instead of actually tell you what's going on. Thum doesn't do that. He is pretty two-sided and he will give the call fair and square and hopefully ask the tough questions after the game than the "oh shucks Ed," ones.

RJ, just want to pass on that I really enjoyed your enthusiasm for South Dakota Athletics. You have a passion that is sorely lacking in the casual fans of the program.
I wish you the best and hope to see you at South Dakota events in the future.
Best of Success!

Whether you like RJ's style or not and ultimately wanted him to be on the Coyote broadcasts - he actually cares and has an excitement for the Yotes that few have. I wish we had thousands of RJ's in the stands every week.
Thanks for all your work, RJ.

RJ chose something else that was better for him and his family, he did not get the boot. He was my favorite. I know he will do well in his next endeavor. RJ was a homer, that's ok, but he was nothing like Culhaine was, Culhaine was unbearable to listen to at times. I never had that feeling about RJ. I hope the new guy is GOOD. We need it either way!

I enjoyed RJ as well and agree that we could use 10000 RJ's at the Dakota Dome.

It's early, but so far I like the job Thum is doing. He's had his hands full correcting Warren's mistakes.
