Ok, so I looked at last year's Summit with regard to Offensive and Defensive Efficiency (points per 100 possessions) I also looked at lists from all D-1 in 2024 to come up with what is a "good" or "bad" number. I won't bore you with the details, but I tried to use a bell curve.... I'll have to come up with a different scale for the men, I think. I can explain it in greater detail if anyone is interested, but it's basically: Points x 100 / Possessions Possessions = FG Attempts + (0.44 x FT Attempts) + Turnovers - Off Rebounds Anyway, here are the results from my (more complex) separate spreadsheet 2024 Summit Efficiency rankings team | Offense | team | Defense | team | Net Efficiency | SDSU | 106.70 | SDSU | 87.05 | SDSU | +19.66 | NDSU | 105.97 | USD | 91.76 | NDSU | +9.98 | ORU | 103.18 | KC | 92.88 | USD | +9.80 | USD | 101.56 | ORU | 95.10 | ORU | +8.08 | Omaha | 96.22 | NDSU | 95.99 | KC | -2.63 | Denver | 94.38 | St Thom | 99.04 | St Thom | -4.96 | St Thom | 94.09 | UND | 100.60 | Denver | -7.56 | KC | 90.25 | Denver | 101.94 | Omaha | -10.66 | UND | 88.12 | Omaha | 106.88 | UND | -12.49 |
Blue = Excellent, top-15-ish Green = Very Good, top-60-ish Orange = very bad, below-300-ish Red = Terrible, below 345-ish so overall: SDSU was in a separate class NDSU, USD and ORU were on a 2nd tier. Although USD grades better than ORU in this metric, they were a nightmare matchup for our turnover-prone team. This league was very offensive-oriented in 2024, as always. Very efficient offenses, and poor defense. and this is independent from pace. If we improve our defense it will go a long way in this league, as we have seen over the last decade.

Against SLU the Yotes had:
Offensive Efficiency of 94.79 (6th place using last year's conference ave) Defensive Efficiency of 96.11 (6th place using last year's conference ave) Net Efficiency of -1.32 ......(5th place using last year's conference ave)
So both sides of the ball need to improve, but neither number is a disaster.
