Keep on eye on the Big East - It will rattle the basketball power conferences in the midwest and eastern part of the US. It will be interesting.

I agree. They could try to salvage football and add some Cusa teams or go the basketball only route. The private non footballs may go after the Creighton, Butler, George Mason, VCU's, etc. The private alones would still make a decent basketball conference.

Yes but I included them since they don't have football. I also never said VCU or George Mason were private.

From today's Tulsa World Herald
Oral Roberts University athletic director Mike Carter and school president Mark Rutland met Wednesday with Southland Conference officials about the possibility of the Golden Eagles joining the Texas-based league.
"Information has been exchanged, and there is curiosity on both sides," Carter said.
Carter could not predict when a potential invitation might be extended because he said he didn't know how quickly the league might convene its athletic directors and presidents to consider the matter - or whether the Eagles would accept if invited.
"Probably sometime in the next few weeks" is the best way to describe the timeline, he said.
Also more conference news / rumors:
TCU leaving Big East (before they actually become a member) and joining Big 12. Latest rumors have either Missouri or West Virginia heading to the SEC. If Missouri heads to SEC, then likely West Virginia to Big 12. Louisville & BYU also rumored to possibly join Big 12. Sounds like Big East football will soon be extinct as the only remaining football members would be Rutgers, Cinncinnati, UConn & USF. If these 4 leave the Big East for a conference offering football, will leave lots of openings for non football schools to join the Big East, which likely could have ripple effects on Missouri Valley, Horizon & Summit.

I am guessing those schools would leave too. The ACC has had interest in UConn and Rutgers had interest from the Big 10. I bet the ACC would add USF and maybe even Cincy, maybe especially Cincy for bball really.

I dont thing being independent in basketball is a good thing for them. Maybe football is Ok but not BB

Maybe the Big 10, the Big East might still remain in some capacity for basketball, but this is all pretty crazy to see the best basketball conference maybe crumbling.
