well, lets be clear, it wasnt an article from Stu, only articles he writes are high school football games. It was a column, essentially, he wrote. And to be honest, i agree with him about the State-USD rivalry and throwing dead animals.....this is the big league now, Division I, leave that childish crap behind.
You never know, something like that could end up costing one team a loss, and that one loss might prevent them from qualifying for the summit league tournament, and that one loss might prevent them from March Madness. Just think about it. And plus, he was right, it would make our state, those schools and the summit league look really REALLY bad.

Well, the Summit League can't have it both ways. They want a big heated rivalry in basketball such as is the one between South Dakota and SDSU. They are going to have to sort of turn their head the other way and not expect a church service to break out in the middle of a rivalry. For as many people that are turned off by the site of animals and chants that get thrown around are also the same people that are going through the turnstiles that might not if those things had no chance of happening.

You obviously don't get it then. Throwing dead animals on the court is NOT going to be allowed with the games. Saying they're just going to have to turn the other way is not how they will deal with it.

Huh, that's funny, because I don't see animals getting thrown on the courts or fields during other rivalries and people show up? maybe it's not all about dead animals....

Good, the morons that dont show up because they only want to see something thrown on the court or foul language, can stay home. Nobody needs or wants them in the stands. If you arent there to support your team the right way then you SHOULD stay away.

There is no place for animal tossing in this rivalry. Students can and should be creative with their chants, but their efforts shouldn't compromise USD's chance of winning. Even if the outcome of one game is certain -- and a crowd technical makes no difference -- what happens the next time around when the tech has a more costly impact? Efforts should be made to prevent such incidents, as a culture of tolerance relies on "good timing" from offenders if such events are not to adversely impact our teams.

Hey yotemeal in your signature block you also forgot to add where Jackjd received his advanced degree. You can go anywhere from here, for many state grads that means USD!
