ORU leads it 44-30 at half. It's not that Oral Roberts isn't a good team but I don't think they have done anything special to get ahead by a comfortable margin at half. They are longer and more athletics but for about 70% of the half the Yotes look lathargic. There is very little ball movement. Too much one on one play. The Yotes might be a bit overmatched in this one but that doesn't mean they can't work harder for better shots or show some emotion out there. Not a good crowd for a Friday night game against ORU. The audio is definately not real good but it seems as if the crowd is mostly flat to go along with the team.
JMO but I don't think the Yotes left the locker room today truley thinking in their heart of hearts that they were going to win the game. It certainly isn't showing that they are playing very desperate basketball. A team can just decide that they want to charge on the court and play with high passion to shock the Summit League with a big win or they can come out on the court half defeated before it starts. I think it's definately closer to the latter.
I think we should expect better.

The Yotes continue to sleepwalk through this game. 54-40 ORU.

The Yotes have hit a couple of threes but they almost never work the ball around for a good shot.

65-57 ORU. This was an 18 point game not that long ago. 7:25 to go and the Yotes are hot from outside and the hot shooting is bringing out better play overall.

71-63 ORU with 3:37 to go. Barely hanging in there.

79-67 is the final. USD had a good 5-7 minutes stretch in the middle of the second half to make this one somewhat interesting. Ya just can't spot a team like ORU an 18 point lead but at least the team had something left in it to make a run. Gotta play with the heart they showed in parts of the second half for longer portions of the game.
All in all about what was to be expected but the Yotes were going to have to play very well to win. I think they kind of lulled Oral Roberts to sleep in the second half but the Eagles woke up in time for them.

Swain continues to do a poor job of painting a picture and it's obvious when watching the game while listening. He doesn't even let the listeners know about the vital things that happen in the game. There was a time where a two pointer was scored that he called a three but he never corrected the audience to let them know it was counted as a two. I just heard that USD outrebounded ORU, wow. Do we call that one a moral victory? I hope that those that make the decisions actually listen to the broadcasts because we need a search committee for a new accouncer.
Boots thought the team played a little scared tonight. Some guys play good some not. Alot of improvements are needed. They shot too good of a percentage. Need more guys to play better especially from key guys. Saint Gelais (sp) played good (I totally agree with that). Boots says that he does not want to accept losing and doesn't want the guys to accept losing. He is extremely disappointed in the losing and says the team is too streaky, playing in spurts. Boots says it's meaningless to just play close and says it's basically time to not accept that.

If the coach is saying we shouldn't accept losing, than should the fans accept losing either? Let everyone decide that for themselves.
