For everyone wondering what Sayler and Learfield was doing with the radio situation, maybe you should of all sat tight instead of criticize, criticize, criticize ... mainly one person in general.
According to Jeremy Hoeck's twitter, next year USD will have a KVHT be the flagship station of USD. They will use a Sioux Falls station and a Mitchell station as well.
Warren Swain is out as the voice of the Coyotes and Joe Van Goor is in. Many of you know Joe, but for those that don't, he has been in Yankton for a while and did a lot of the USD broadcasts before with Kevin and Jeff Culhane.
Kevin is no longer the owner of KVHT, btw. There is new ownership.
There will also be a daily show and a weekly Coyote Corner show if I am correct.
I am sure Jeremy Hoeck will have more in tomorrow's paper and he has already tweeted a bunch of it on @jhoeck on Twitter.
Definitely an upgrade that everyone, and one person in general, has been wanting. This stuff doesn't just happen overnight, so it was good to see this get done fast. And yes, this was fast considering when Leerfield signed on and when this went down.

In addition to the huge improvment in programming, there is also a much improved selection of affilates for next year including a combination of KOOL 107.9 & Q 95.7 in Sioux Falls, KOOL 98.3 in Mitchell (a very strong FM signal) & KMNS 620-AM out of Sioux City a very strong daytime signal & they used to be & likely still are the sports radio station in Sioux City) Hopefully they can land a good affiliate in Rapid City & somewhere up north in the Watertown area.
The stations for USD & SDSU will now be located in Yankton.

620 AM out of Sioux City, you kidding me? That is theee sports radio station in NW Iowa. Will they air the daily & weekly show as well, or just the games?

Yotes website said KMNS will carry all football games and select mens & womens basketball games. It made no mention of the daily & weekly show If I were to guess, they likely will not carry the daily show as I believe they have there own daily show ( I don't get in the Sioux City coverage area often, but when I do, I try to tune into KMNS (play Dos Equis theme in backround)

Hopefully they can land a good affiliate in Rapid City & somewhere up north in the Watertown area. For some reason, Rapid City seems to be a tough market in which to get affiliates. I'm not sure what percentage of the Jackrabbits games are available on radio out here. It will probably help if you have an active and organized fan/alumni group operating in the area. I know quite a few USD alums but none of the ones I know follow the Coyotes or return to USD for events. I rely on the internet to follow Jackrabbit athletics. Of course, that doesn't work when I am in the car.

This is great news, Joe will do a great job and I look forward to the vast improvement and a familiar voice.
Am I right assuming the games will be available online via one of the stations listed?

The news about 620AM is huge. Think about this Coyote fans, we just bumped the Nebraska Cornhuskers off the air. 620AM was the radio affiliate for Nebraska football in SC. 1360AM carries the Hawkeyes. 620AM also carries Sioux City Musketeers hockey in the winter time.

I must admit, part of me wishes Cully were in the booth as well. Man, what a great "homer"!

Having KVHT back as flagship is definately a good thing. They displayed in the past that they cared for the Yotes and put them as one of their top priorities. Joe Van Goor although maybe not my favorite will at least seem like he isn't taking the job just to have a decent job. You know he will put his soul into his work and be proud to be the play by play guy. I am sure in his household their is alot of celebration about now as their should be
Congradulations Joe.
Just one thing please make it a priority to explain what is actually going on at the event so the listeners get a good picture. if the Yotes had a call that was favorable to them and a raw deal to our opponent I want to know the real truth. I like excitement shown towards the Yotes with an unbiased approach to what is going on in the game.

Sounds good to me. He should have plenty to do and say about USD sports in the near future.

I am going to state the obvious--I love the idea of a regular talk show, perhaps including pre-game and/or post-game call in. Sounds more like the coverage that a state flagship D1 program should have, and I would think would increase interest around the Yotes.
