Enough said. Will take a complete 40 minute game from the Yotes tonight. Hopefully the students show up in force to replicate the atmosphere from the mens game.

If the ladies are hopeful of a WNIT bid at the conclusion of the season, a win tonight would go a long ways towards helping get there. They would obviously need to cover the other 5 games on their schedule after tonight as well, but of the remaining games a win tonight would do their RPI the most good.

Nice win for the Yotes. I hope you can beat out ORU for #2 in the conference and get the guaranteed WNIT birth (and that's a Jacks booster speaking).
You all have a darn good women's basketball team. Get behind those ladies coming down the stretch. You won't regret it!

Thanks Filbert - Really wish the Yotes were SL eligible this year. Could have been the dream championship game matchup in Sioux Falls. I think the intensity of a USD SDSU womens championship game in Sioux Falls would blow the ESPN announcers away.

Very proud of the ladies effort tonight. They had so many opportunities to drop their heads and let the game slip away but they always believed. Both teams played excellent defense and it was hard fought all the way. At one point late in the game, the Jacks made a high shot that looked like it was going to bank in off the shot clock, banked in a 3 pointer and then made a highly contested shot to score just in front of the shot clock. I honestly thought it was over then but the girls believed.
Have to really compliment Alexis for the pressure she kept on Young all night. Baseline to baseline, she was on her all night. Jill is great and made some tough 3's, but nothing came easy for her.

Great game ladies with a fantastic finish!! Your defense has been OUTSTANDING all year, with blocked shots, pressure and it was again tonight!! State obviously has a very good team too.

If Amber Hegge doesn't get Summit player of the year it will be a travesty. I know that Luper girl from ORU is a great player but Amber is arguably having a better year. I would be curious if the State fans on here agree she should be player of the year? She has carried USD on her back again tonight. All around amazing year. More than just a scorer, at or near top of several categories. Luper is a scorer but not sure she has all around game of Hegge. Young had a tough game tonight, I'm not aware of any other player in the running?

I agree Amber Hegge POY! Williams post game on the radio was great last night! The excitement in his voice was real. I think he really enjoyed beating the bunnies.

This was another great win and I have to believe these wins (MBB and WBB vs. SDSU) will pay big dividends in upcoming recruiting battles.
These achievements will be topped when we break ground - in the not too distant future, for the new BBall facility.

I would rather have the better shooting, rebounding, assists, blocks, and less turnovers than the 4 points Luper scores. Just saying!

Hegge for the fourth time this season was named player of the week in the SL. She has a total of four weekly players of the week. This will have a weighing factor if she is picked as the SL MVP. Luper has one to her credit. Those who vote on MVP are going to have a hard time overlooking Hegge's accompolisments. www.thesummitleague.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=3900&ATCLID=205379655Hegge has contributed a great deal, and I was not aware of her until she played in Brookings. Other SDSU fans have remarked on how good of a player she and I would agree whole heartly.

I think Luper has 4 as well. Below is from the Summit site. This does not include the one Amber just received yesterday. Also, Amber was Player of the Month for both December and January.
Previous 2011-12 honorees: Nov. 15 - Kevi Luper, ORU; Nov. 22 - Amber Hegge, USD; Nov. 29 - Kevi Luper, ORU; Dec. 6 - Stephanie Rosado, IPFW/Kevi Luper, ORU; Dec. 13 - Brittany Carnago, OU; Dec. 20 - Amber Hegge, USD; Dec. 27 - Ashley Eide, SDSU; Jan. 3 - Dayon Hall-Jones, UMKC; Jan. 10 - Bethany Watterworth, OU; Jan. 17 - Katie Comello, IUPUI/Carli Moreland, SUU; Jan. 24 - Amber Hegge, USD; Jan. 31 - Bethany Watterworth, OU; Feb. 7 - Kevi Luper, ORU.

I think Luper gets it. Team has a better conference record and USD isn't even eligible for the conference tournament. I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying I think that's what is going to happen. USD will get slighted this year because they're new to the conference. I'm sure she'll get first team SL though.
