I think it would take a lot of money to get Steve Emming out of retirement. He is kind of a morning person and does the five minute sports spot on WNAX. When SDSU had the contract with WNAX, they flew Steve any one else on the broadcasts so they did not spend all night driving back to Yankton. Steve is at least 70 or close to it and enjoying retirement.

Redwhiteandyote, what is the problem with the "we" stuff? So you want someone who doesn't give a crap about SD athletics? Come on man! RJ and Van Goor are true coyotes. Keep up the good work guys!

Lastly, I hope I keep hearing tons of KABOOMS from RJ since he uses the word when "WE" hit a three pointer. If we aren't hearing many or any KABOOMS, we probably aren't doing so hot.

All I know is that each time a KaBoom is said, it means it is not a Division I radio broadcast. Listen to other broadcasts and you will not hear those gimmicks. I just want USD to start reaching a level even with its broadcast that is at a Division I level.

During the football game I was at tonight, a high school one, on one of the touchdowns there was a bunch of screaming and yelling from the radio booth. Just reminded me of USD's broadcast at times with the new crew in. A high school crew should not remind you of a Division I crew. I'm sorry.

I understand where everybody is coming from but I would like to add a thought or two before we are to critical.

1.) My personal thoughts are KABOOM is somewhat of a trademark saying by RJ if that makes sense. I go to lots of Big 12 basketball games and hear various announcers and when someone fires a long distance 3, here are some quotes I have heard from so called D-1 broadcast people:

Jones for 3: YESSSSSSSSSSSS

Jones for 3: BINGO

Jones for 3: YEPPPPPPPPPPP

So when I hear a KABOOM, to me it's just his excited way of saying YES, YEPPPPP, OR BINGO. Kaboom to me symbolizes the gun went off and hit the target.

2.) If I was going to be critical I would say last nights Coaches Show on the radio was not very good at all. I don't think either Joe was ready. There wasn't a flow, and JVG stumbled through it not smooth at all. Now in fairness, it was his first shot so I am willing to give him time. I just thought the broadcast wasn't very prepared.

In closing, Warren Swain is a good man. I just think time had passed him, and his voice didn't have that "killer or deep" tone needed to hold interest. If you watch any YouTube broadcasts with him announcing, it isn't what we would prefer as a fan base. But Warren is still a nice guy whose feelings should be protected.

On broadcast team, let's go to Missoula and get this thing started.

[In fairness to the poor guy...the real story later came out. He was asked to fill in for the regular sports guy and the operator of the teleprompter wasn't paying attention, allowing it to run too fast so the sportsguy just tried to improvise.
