unbelveable! How does SDSU have 1.3 million in ticket revenue and we have 269k? Also look at the difference in corporate sponsorship...I thought we both had Lerfied and the deals would be similiar.

Yeah, USD has a lot to do to get caught up in ticket revenues and basically everything else. Part of it will be helped by new facilities, but just can't wait around for that. I really don't have any answers of what to do with this.

What I have a hard time comprehending is that
1) we give away a lot of ticket (or the majority of our attendence is students who are free)
Or
2) we fudge on our attendance numbers.
If someone did the math...I think total revenue divided by attendence would indicate an average price of $2 per ticket. I'm blown away, as some who pays for tickets. Do donors get free tickets?

Well, we know it's not student attendance. 2. I think the attendance numbers are pretty spot on. The Dome capacity this season reflected the attendamce numbers given. As someone who pays for tickets this also bothers me. I'm putting my money on accounting tricks.

$40/ticket was the price for the SDSU/USD game. Not sure what the prices were for others. What was the attendance there? 15,000?

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking it's accounting tricks. You telling me we had $279,000 in gate receipts yet the athletic dept brought in $210,000 in copier/print services income? B.S. We're doing a better job at being a Kinko's than we are running an athletic dept with those figures. Shoot, season ticket sales in football alone account for the gate revenue, not even counting walk-up sales.
Something's not right with those figures.

Keep in mind, this report is for 2011-12 and does not include this year's football season. That may make a difference. KULawjack is correct. The SDSU-USD ticket prices as well as this years record average attendance won't show up until next year's report. My best estimate is that that game would add an additional $200,000 to the receipts. There were about 15000 at the game. Assuming 3000 were students who get in "free" and there are 3000 season tickets holders who didn't have to pay extra, that leaves 9000 who paid the $40/ticket price which is $20 higher than normal for $180,000. As to SDSU figures over all, we averaged about 12,000 at football games last year. Assuming 3000 students that would be 9000 paying customers at each of 5 games times $20 per ticket for $900,000. Basketball average attendance for men and women probably averages about 2000 paying customers for each of about 20 game dates or 40000 tickets sold. Some of those were double headers. Ticket prices vary but if they averaged $10, that would be the other $400,000. Volleyball, wrestling, soccer, baseball and softball bring in relatively smaller amounts. As to the figures for USD, the dollar amounts are certainly audited numbers so it would seem either that the attendance figures are off or there are a lot of free tickets given out.

Do corporate sponsors get free tickets? That would show up in a different line on there.
However, the concessions revenue is proportionate to ticket sales at both schools. SDSU has 4.75 times the ticket revenue of USD and 4.5 times the concessions revenue of USD.
Also, next year I think you guys start getting NCAA money and money from the conference and conference tournament that will help out.

My opinion is attendance is inflated for football, MBB, and WBB.
I have read on here that there are only 5700 seats in the main grandstand in the DD. The only capacity game was D-days. Do you think the bleacher side can hold an additional 5000 people? IMO not even close.
I think our true attendance would be closer to: D-Days 8000, Season average 5500.
We are a long ways behind right now where I would want us. All of us need to encourage fellow alumni and sports fans to come to some games. Lots of work to do.
