Havent really heard much about the Summit League Indoor Track Meet because of basketball season, but is anyone else anxious? This is a big time thing for USD, getting this meet in Vermillion (though, really, not many other places can host), but still, impressive. Hoping USD can at least compete and keep it close with the Bison.

When USD joined the Summit League, I figured USD would be able to host the indoor meet a good amount, which is awesome. With all of the talk about the Dome renovations, the indoor track facility is such a great facility that does not need much, if any, changes.

Great job by the men to win the conference! With all of the talk of certain areas that need to step up to compete, the track team has always bee there, men and women. There was a reason the track program was the first one to jump up.

I'm proud of my University today (okay, I always am). Way to go track athletes!!
I know this accomplishment won't likely speed up development of an outdoor facility, but it can't hurt. In any event I'm looking for more good things to come.

I've sent email to my friend Dave Gottsleben. Great job by the USD men and that third place finish by the women also deserves congratulations.

Ditto, great job to the men for winning USD's first Summit League Conference title. Keep up the great work with the track and field programs for leading the way for the athletic department.

My long time hopes for a new arena for the volley ball, and basketball programs, appear to be in reach but I really want to see our T & F programs rewarded with outdoor facilities that are commensurate with the quality of the coaches and athletes. Gotts and Lucky personify what Coyote athletics is all about. Mick Garry did a great job in summing this up: From Mick Garry's Sports Blog: mgarryargus.tumblr.com/

If you've ever spent time around Gottsleben or Huber, you can see how close they are with their athletes and how much they care about their kids, in all areas. Jeff Mettler is the perfect example of a kid who came to USD for academics and just so happened to be a pretty good distance runner. And now look at him.
Slowly USD will be the mecca for regional high school track athletes. I remember reading about the McKelvey kid and some of the high major offers he got but chose to come to USD. That's a kid who could be at Arkansas, one of the premier track programs in the nation. But he's a Coyote.
