It was nice to see a yote as the summit league player of the week! wasnt sure the summit league knew anyone besides Nate Wolters even played . Not that Nate didnt deserve the honors but it was sure nice to see a yote up there! On a seperate note, hopefully we can keep the momentum going, get Bos healthy, and grab a couple wins in the tourney! Maybe its just me but i think the team has been playing with good confidence and i like where we are sitting! only time will tell. GO YOTES!

Yeah, congrats to Gruis on Player of the Week award.
Sleuth, I agree with you on Yotes momentum going into tourney. They are the 7th seed, so there is that. However, I think all 8 coaches enter the tourney with these aspirations: 1) Team is playing best ball of the year. 2) Team is healthy. 3) Team matches up well with opponents slotted. I think Coach Boots, can feel pretty good about 1&2, and it's not terrible facing a #2 seed that you have played very close twice. Of course, if we slid past WIU, our 2nd round would be against a team we were 0-2 on the year.

All teams start over now, but keep mind the Yotes have lost 6 of there last 7 conference games and the one win was over IUPUI. I don't know if USD is playing it's "best ball" right now. I guess you can word it two ways. 1) it only takes three games or 2) you have to win three games in a row! It should be fun.

They lose to Oakland by 1 and Western Illinois by 2 (on the road) but they lose to UMKC and IPFW. I'm not saying that those are bad teams but they aren't top 4 seeds. USD even played SDSU fairly tough losing by 13 in Brookings. Of course, USD beat SDSU in Vermillion so maybe they rise up for the good teams but don't play as well against the average(league wise) teams. I think #2 and #3 are the ones that cover USD best. I think USD matches up against Western Illinois better than the other 3 top teams. I know USD beat SDSU and Oakland once and didn't beat Western Illinois but I just think SDSU and Oakland have more upside in the tourney and Parks(Western Illinois best player) might be out. USD could be playing their best ball now. I haven't seen them play enough to know any better. A 2 point loss AT the team you play means they aren't playing bad ball, that is for sure. I like SDSU's first game but I never know about Oakland. I'd rather play Western Illinois but it is what it is. In a couple days we'll see how it all plays out.

From a win loss standpoint it definitely doesnt look good, but after watching every game all season long, it feels and appears like we are playing much better and more inspired ball right now.

The Yotes are the 7th seed for a reason, I am just saying that as can be expected with a team that relied heavily on Freshmen, a transfer, and a JUCO transfer, it is understandable that they are playing better now than earlier in the season. Aside from the Bison, I do know that the top seeds (1, 2, 4) if they draw the Yotes will know they are facing a team that can give them trouble! That's been proven in head-to-head battles this year.

I wouldnt say they have relied heavily on Freshman and Tranfers completely. Bos, Tecker, and Gruis have proven to be a steady had for the team this year. I also think we could make a pretty good argument for a 5 or 6 seed. 1 or 2 more buckets go our way and our conference record looks dramatically different.

I bet most teams in the league have close losses, that if turned into wins could have improved their league record. You are who you are.

Good point, Sleuth, I didn't mean to downplay the obvious contributions of Bos, Gruis, Tecker. And J. Myles stepped right in with his level of experience. I just meant that we began the year with Kasperbauer, Flack, Myles, Rowson as starters, all in their first starts with the Coyotes. It's natural to see that playing together would bring improvement from November to March.

ya no doubt it is tough finding an identity with that many young players.
Jackl, I was just making the point we have had a fairly high number of close losses so i think we are a little tougher than what the seeding shows. Usually a 2 vs. 7 matchup seems a like and easy pick but i think even for a 7 seed we will be a tough match up for some teams in the tournament.
