Holy crap everyone, welcome to a rivalry game. This is done EVERYWHERE in the country. Seriously, go to an OSU-Michigan game and be like...OMG guess what they said. Or Duke vs. UNC. Or Washington vs. Wash State. Come on folks.

Knowing that still doesn't make it right. You don't have to be mean simply because it is a rivalry game. I know better than to push this any further because everyone has opinions on it. Mine is that I feel bad, for Yotes or whoever else it happens to, when they have to endure that type of verbal abuse.

Its the way it was and the way it was going to be. It happens on both sides, not just one side.

Why are we ruining a great game and great rivalry by talking about sh*t like this? Oh yea, Mr Coyotefan started it. Now it makes sense. All that happened just tells me that the rivalry is back, better than ever and when a trip to the big dance is on the line, the place is going to be rocking. How about because the SDSU fanbase likes to always claim that USD is the school with most of the bad behavior whether it be fans, admin, players etc. Cases of poor fan behavior are very relevant to the current discussion. USD can lose with class and can lose to SDSU with class. We will see what happens when the Yotes start to take some of that success from SDSU. Will they be greatfull losers as well. Based on the way they treat all their opponents after a loss I would seriously doubt it. Their board is full of low class comments about their opponents, especially after a loss. That rarely happens on the Yotes board. This discussion won't take away from the wonderfull season the Coyote Women had, and it might not be over yet as the NIT or another post season tournament is still a possibility. You cannot be serious. Go read the thread regarding the championship game between our schools. Nothing but complimentary things about Coach Williams and the USD women and how tough they played and how good they will be in the future. Which is all true. Same things regarding the Bison men. Get a clue.

You and yote53 are a great example of losing with class. lol What do I have to do with any of this? Because I commented on that 300lb shirtless SDSU fan with his body covered in blue pain? The guy was bouncing up and down with his, err...chest, flopping all over the place on national TV. That was embarrassing to the entire state! I never once commented on SDSU fans saying anything because I didn't witness it.

There are idiots in every fan base and the fact that we are talking about it on here is just terrible in my opinion. Get over it. As a high school coach I hear things like this at high school games. All I can do is try and teach my players how to act. I can't control what the opposing fans are doing so why bring attention to it. Griping about the other team's fans after a loss is just as classless as the few fans from SDSU that were saying things after the game. I'm sure the same things happen to USD opponents on their way out of the dome after a tough loss. I'm not saying it is right but get over it and quit drawing attention to the negative of what was a a great day for USD and South Dakota sports in general.

Me either, and I am some kind of farmer who went to SDSU. I grow no less than six tomato plants each year and when I lived at Columbus Ne, I had 80 plants one year. It's a great day to be a farmer and a SDSU Jackrabbit.

Summit League Tournament vignette: We were sitting a few rows back of the rail in the balcony, and noticed that Nate Wolters was sitting in the row at the rail in front of us. A little kid came down with his dad and very shyly asked for a picture posing with Nate, which Wolters cheerfully provided. This began a bit of a parade of kids (mainly) going down to get pics with Nate. After a while, We saw that right across the row from Wolters was Tempestt Wilson and another USD women's team player (I didn't immediately recognize her), and the USD players leaned over and asked for a picture with Wolters, too. The crowd nearby saw this, and started up a good-natured "no, no!" kind of noise when they saw Wolters and the two USD players stand at the rail and begin to pose, and in response Wilson jokingly covered up part of the "South Dakota Women's Basketball" on the front of her warmup as the picture was taken. This dissolved the protests into general laughter and good feelings throughout the section--which did contain some red along with the blue, by the way. As a State fan I came away from it feeling positively about Wilson and by extension her USD teammates for playing to the crowd and being such a good sport about it. Now, I suppose you could get offended by Wilson covering up her school's name, or the protests from State fans which caused her to do that, but in the end everybody seemed to me to be laughing and having a good time with it. Point is that the rivalry can be as fun or as nasty as people on both sides choose to make it--and every fan base has their fair share of jerks and a-holes. You can let them drive the rivalry, or you can ignore them (and discipline your own when you see them acting like jerks and a-holes). We can chose to focus on the negatives, or on the lighter aspects of our fan base's relationships with each other--like the Yackley family's story, as another more positive for-instance. (I thought her uncle's red-and-white face paint was HILARIOUS--and in a good way, in the same general spirit as Wilson covering up her warmup.) My last observation is that posts made by the thread starter have this unfortunate tendency to dwell--IMHO too much--on negatives. And by the way "shameful" only has one "L".
