Who are the local guys going to NDSU? The most obvious one would be Marlette. But I don't think he will switch as he wanted his own identity. But then again..... I said that poorly. I should have said the guys we recruited. Marlette is the obvious SD kid, as you pointed out. I'd like to see us take another run at Easton Stick, R.J. Urzendowski, and Jalen Allison from Nebraska.

I am not sure we would have a chance with Easton Stick, he just pick up a offer from Rutgers. Since Easton and RJ are teammates, not sure we could pull them away from NDSU unless something went really bad.

Wilkie has terrible release. Low and slow. Horsted is a better WR prospect than DB prospect. We are pretty deep in young WR's. Just heard today that BHRV Van Ginkel visiting UNI and West Lyon Snyder taking official to NDSU before Christmas. Yotes may be too late when they come in January. Has anyone heard anything on Solsma?

Horsted is class of 2015 according to that link.
Wilkie has an ugly throwing motion (seems compact and quick though), but he is 6'5". A bit of a Phillip Rivers look. Impressive looking kid, in my opinion.
None of the Iowa/Sioux City kids in the last link seem to jump off the screen in their film to me. Snyder is a good looking athlete, not sure where he would play - S? VanG looks good at QB, but slow at WR or DB. I like Solsma as much as any of them.

I think Dan Marlette will find only obscurity in Fargo, if that is the identity he is looking for. How many notable alumni have you ever heard about who attended NDSU? Zero. Alf Clausen. That's the only NDSU grad that I have ever heard of. He composed music for The Simpsons. With such a high enrollment you'd think they'd have someone to hang their hat on. Serious? I think I could name 5 or 6 outstanding NDSU football alums without thinking about it -- guys that any team, would want on their roster. I could come up with several more if given a little time to think about it. Guys like Phil Hanson (Buffalo Bills); Tyrone Braxton (Dolphins, Broncos); Steve Nelson (Patriots); Craig Dahl (Rams); Joe Mays (Eagles, Broncos); Jeff Bentrim; Jerry Dahl. Yoteforever was a great player on some of the all-time best USD teams in the second half of the 70s. I'm sure he remembers several NDSU guys who were outstanding. NDSU has a rich history and a long list of outstanding football alums, particularly since the early 1960s when the school's administration decided to improve the program. For decades prior to the early 1960s, NDSU wasn't any great shakes in football. The real turning point was the hiring of Darrel Mudra as head coach in 1963. Since that hire, NDSU has rarely had a down year.

You forgot Stacy Robinson, who won a Superbowl with the Giants.

Per Mick Garry: Hull Western Christian coach Travis Kooima says 6-3, 230 TE Ethan Fenchel has committed to USD to play football. Fenchel is also a nationally ranked discus thrower...runs a 4.6 40 and benches 315. www.hudl.com/athlete/1332509/

A great commitment from a SD player as Watertown's Shay Bratland just tweeted "I have officially committed to play football at the University of South Dakota! I wanna thank the man above and everyone else who helped me!"

Fenchel and Bratland are both great gets for the Coyotes! Both have speed, power, elusiveness, hands, etc. They are football players! Welcome to the Coyote family!

Just watched the highlights of the Fenchel kid and was really really impressed. Can't wait to see that kid in a Coyote uniform. Man he looks good.
As for Bratland, well, I'll say this...was pulling for the Governors in the championship game at the Dome and stoked they beat the Arrows, but was pulling for this kid to break off a big play the whole time. Love the way he plays and love his tenacity. Total gamer.
