Hey, Oakland left the Summit League today. The time is now to build a new conference and ditch the Summit League. Here I say. Create a conference that offers football and basketball. Okay. So it could be called the Dakota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference or something like that. Basketball or football are required sports. Here are the schools that will and should join.
1. USD (FB+BB) 2. NDSU (FB+BB) 3. SDSU (FB+BB) 4. UND (FB+BB) 5. WIU (FB+BB) 6. Denver U (BB) 7. UNO (BB) 8. Missouri State (FB+BB) 9. UNI (FB+BB) 10. UMKC (BB)
This would create a 7 team football league and 10 team basketball league. This would be a stable and very competitive conference and all of the schools are fairly close together.
I know UNI leaving the MVFC is a long shot but if USD, NDSU, SDST, WIU, etc all leave I think they would head to the more stable option.

It's not that UNI won't leave the MVFC, there is no way them or Missouri State are leaving the Valley for basketball. No way.

I agree that those teams will be going nowhere in basketball, and most likely not be leaving in football considering the Valley is one of the premier footblal conferences in FCS. The Summit appears to be in rough shape right now. Something will have to give between the WAC, Horizon, and Big Sky to help create 3 leagues out of those 4 conferences. Maybe even throw the Ohio Valley or Missouri Valley as well. The time is now for mid major realignment. The big boys appear to be close to being done realigning for the time being. Time now to reset some of the smaller conferences. Summit needs to look at either UND (longshot) or poaching Milwaukee and Green Bay from the Horizon. I see this as better option as there are already murmors of other Horizon schools being plucked for the A-10, Valley, MEAC.
