Raeshel Contreras, a 5-foot-6 point guard from Foothill College (Calif.), has signed to play women’s basketball at the University of South Dakota.
Contreras, who has two years of eligibility, averaged 17 points a game and shot 45 percent from the field and 42 percent on 3-pointers. She was a first-team all-conference honoree in 2011 and 2012. She’s a graduate of Encinal High School in San Francisco.
Looking forward to next season and Coach Williams leading us to the NCAA tourney

Going to be a great team, that's for sure. Hope she can live up to her hype.

I followed the link and had to do a double-take on the shirts worn by the Ocean Springs Principal and Athletic Director. I thought they had a version of SDSU's 'stretch SD' but I did a quick check on the internet for a closer view and the insignia is an O and an S. In any event, good to get a kid with South Dakota roots!

Lack of offers from other schools kind of makes me wary, but I'm excited to see her come up here.

I cannot believe I am about to say this but next year's womens basketball team is going to be the greatest team in any sport in USD history...basketball or not rhese ladies are going to be great. I believe a trip to the Ncaa tournament is likely and winning a few is not out of question. Nonetheless pretty excited for the season to start. Go Yotes!

Slow your boat a little, the Yotes put some dang good football teams on the field in the 70's and 80's, going to the NC game one year. Sure, it was D2, however, those days the D2 scholarship limit was in the 50's, similar to FCS today. Those teams were darn good and very talented. Still, good luck to the Lady Yotes this season.

There is no question who the best basketball or football team was in USD history. It was the 1958 Men's Basketball Team that won the National Championship. National Championships trump all when it comes to success and college sports. That is the ultimate goal. Bethany Buele (sorry about spelling) won a national championship in the pole vault which in itself is the biggest accomplishment of any other thing in USD's transition. Bigger that the football win at Minnesota. Maybe not as hyped but a better accomplishment.

What I meant is the best team ever in Division 1 thus far.

"Best team ever in Division I thus far".....Might be a bit much, because what if next season's team loses in the Summit League title game again? Or somehow doesn't make the championship game? Would a WNIT bid still make it the best team in Division I thus far?
I don't personally get into pointless rankings like that. It's shaping up to be a pretty good lineup, that's for sure. Going to need someone other than Seekamp to step up and consistently score....could it be a transfer? Will McCloud or Harrington pick up their offense?
