The Bears bring a 2-6 record into the game, but don't let the record fool you.
Two weeks ago, UNC lost 35-28 to 12th-ranked Eastern Washington after turning the ball over twice in the final 1:15 of the game and giving up a TD with 41 seconds left.
Today, the Bears lost to 15th-ranked Montana State 37-35 in the final minutes in Bozeman. Their QB was 19-of-34 for 344 yards and four TDs with zero INTs, but their D gave up 400 yards passing.
The Yotes will probably have their hands full again with this one, but the game is in the Dome. This needs to be a win.

Without a doubt. The Coyotes we have seen the last three weeks cannot show up for this game at all. UNC is a dangerous opponent, even in the Dome.

The Yotes need to find their identity again on offense. UNC will be a very dangerous team for USD and the game could go either way.
USD is now in a position where they have to run the table to finish 6-5. We know USD rallies hard at home and hopefully a strong home crowd can do their part.
Will really help USD as a FB program to finish strong - gives Ed a good story to tell on the recruiting trail.
Frustrating right now, because I think USD has enough good players to do better than they have the last few weeks.
This is painful - but if we keep showing interest and growing the fan support/ game day experience - we will have better days ahead.

This is a little painful right now but this happens at every level of athletics. We just need to stick with these guys. I know they are working hard. Look at the NFL this year. The teams that dominated last year are struggling. There are all kinds of reasons for it at every level. The biggest difference with SUU was they were a senior heavy team that we may have beat the last 2 years but they finally put everything together. Our time is coming as well. Get out and support the Yotes!

Okay guys, we have a game tommorrow so I'll kick the dust off this thread.
The planning crew has been engaged in their preparations for Saturday's tailgate. We're going to make this one "special". There's still a couple different ways this could go but something cool is going to happen.
Our opponent is Northern Colorado, former NCC foe, and future BSC foe...whoops got ahead of myself there. How abou the irony of this, in back to back weekends we will play UNC and Cal Poly, both (future) BSC members. I remember the beginning of the year we were all psyched at our home scedule. A BSC invite will make this year look paltry. Enough on that.
We have to stop this three game slide, and nothing better than a home stand to do it. The Coyotes who beat the Gophers have been nowhere to be found as of late. If they make an appearance tomorrow I predict an easy Coyote victory. If the Coyotes of last weekend show up, it's going to be a long day at the Dome.
I am not going to predict a 27-24 OT thriller like in 1996, but I think it will be close game with the guys in Red pulling one out and and getting us on a roll to end the season.

I have a feeling the Yotes will come out with a nothing to lose attitude and put up some points. They have too much talent to lay another egg especially at home.
Yotes 37-24

throwin' my two cents in.... the green light for Dante to run as he saw fit was kinda tempered the last few games (well, since Minnesota) to make sure he lasted the season. Well, the season is now at a point of win or lose. Let him run wild!

Heck ya, I remember that game. My freshman year in college. I can't remember if that was the same game my neighbor in the dorms Darren Smith dislocated his ankle. For those who saw the Adam B.'s injury at coaches corner Monday night, it reminded me of the sickening sight of what happend to Darren. He was a highly toughted freshmen from Minneapolis area if I remember correctly. His ankle twisted in a way it should never do - and it happened right in front of the student section. Yuck. I wish Adam a speedy recovery, I don't think Darren ever played again. Enough with the bad memories - this game is all Yotes 33-20. Hello Big Sky!

Alright, time for my keys to the game.
First off, I hope a speedy recovery to Adam Broders. That is the biggest loss the defense could've suffered all year IMO. He will be sorely missed and I will touch on it again here in a bit.
#1 - USD's offense. This is the game where we will see what the USD offense has. This is the do or die game without a doubt. Northern Colorado's defense gives up 32.5 points per game, 19th worst in the FCS.
#2 USD's passing game. This is where I think USD can do the most damage to UNC. The Bears have given up 15 passing touchdowns this year, 13th worst in FCS and USD has 14 passing touchdowns, 23rd in the FCS. Even though UNC has split up the yards it has given up through the ground and the air, it seems like USD can attack UNC through the air a little worse, so I think this is how USD should do it, considering the coaching staff seems dead-set on Ganious, who is pretty good in the passing game.
#3 USD's defense. The defense is giving up 412.6 yards per game, 13th worst in the FCS. USD has to start killing drives sooner on defense in order to get off the field and get some rest. Of course, some of this has to do with the offense, which has had trouble sustaining long drives.
#4 USD's passing defense. In particular, the passing defense has to be ready to play. Teams have passed for 235.1 yards per game, 25th worst in the FCS. Plus UNC has 15 passing touchdowns so far, 22nd in the FCS so far. The defensive backs will have to be on their A game here, especially in the red zone.
#5 Adam Broders/Linebacers - I think Eric Leon will see most of the time, but Broders is impossible to replace. This is a call to the other linebackers, including Shea Williams, to set up and play better defense. I can't count how many times Williams has gotten juked and lost his jock.
#6 Pass rush - USD's defensive line can grow up quick in this game. UNC has given up 23 sacks this season, 14th worst in the FCS. USD needs to blitz the LBs or do whatever they need to do to get after the quarterback in this game and force them into bad decisions or to end the drive on third down.
#7 Kicking game - let's see what happened last week continue this week. That is all.

I really don't know what to expect from this game. I usually do the best when I stick to predictions that I envisioned pre season instead of what has happened lately.
One thing I know is that it is unlikely that USD will win a last second game. One thing I know is that it is likely that UNC won't win in a blowout. That means that UNC either wins a close game or USD wins by more than a touchdown.
I will call it 34-17 USD.
I don't consider this much of a do or die game because that game happened last week and USD shriveled. This is just another decent home game that is the 4th best home game to attend but is way better than the 5th best. This season is exactly what it is and the last 3 games are not as important as the past 3 games. The real nuts and bolts of the season were the games at UC Davis, vs UNI and at S. Utah.
