Congratulations Coyotes. Huge win!
Was at the game and just finished rewartching the TV version I recorded.
Our defense has improved drastically. Good tackling, attack style football. Three things jumped out: 1. Good tackling 2. Very good team speed 3. Physical play by our DL front
Praska is figuring out the DT position after being moved there the week before game one. He is extremely strong and exactly what we need to absorb OL and let our LBers run and make a play. Jacobs is really playing well as is Greer. This was such a weakness last year and is not at all this year. Key to our defense looking better IMO.
Iddings is coming into his own and will be an All MVFC type player before he is done.
Starr is the most talented FB player we have had in a long time. He is as fun to watch as Noah and Stephan were on offense several years back.
On offense it was interesting to look at the drives we had during the game. We only had two three and outs (did not count when the first half ended our drive). Every time we had success moving the ball for meaningful yards, early in the drive USD attempted a 20+ yd downfield pass. Even when It fell incomplete, immediately the holes for running opened up. When the offense got too conservative the defense of MSU clamped down hard and cause a punt.
Hopefully Earl can improve and Wes' confidence in letting Earl take some shots will with it. Need to give Terrance Terry an opportunity to get the ball downfield and not just on screens. (Couldn't help thinking during the game of what Earl and Powell could have done last year.....)
Hopefully we have seen the last of the bad snaps.
JVM is going to be an even bigger playmaker playing a non-QB position. Excited to see that wrinkle develop.
With all the penalties and miscues by the Yotes and to still pull out a victory shows how far the team has come. Play a clean game and get better and the season will start looking way different.
With as young as the Yotes are though, I expect some erratic play.
Happy for the players and staff.
Go get ISU!

"Someone is going to have to explain to me why we keep running the WR screen play for 1-2 yards at a pop."
A high school coach sitting behind me made the same observation.

What a great day to be a Yote. DDays win, VB beats SDSU! Haven't read through everything yet but not very classy of Miss St to trash the locker room. Also saw a close up picture of T Star hit on QB and did not look head to head or even should have drawn a penalty to me. You make the call. Looks pretty clean to me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcdQuwVyNuc

Finally back up and running at noon today! No power from Friday early PM until last night and no phone/internet until now. No cell phone, either, on Sunday. Oh well, like the Yotes we just bucked up and got the job done. Could not get the Coyotes on the radio as the station was off the air. KOTA stayed on at least and so did KGFX from Pierre, where I heard the score.
Electricity - we love you!!! (almost as must as USD and the Coyotes).
Looking forward to next week's game. Time to fire up the chain saw ......

No way Starr should miss a half of football for that hit. Should have been 15 yards and nothing more. I watched the game in person and again on DVR yesterday and thought the officiating crew missed a big one in the 3rd quarter on the USD turnover when one of the Bears players punched a Coyote player resulting in a no-call.
The unsportsmanlike on Bredl or Greer or whoever (couldn't understand a word the refs were saying because the PA system was so poor) was total hogwash as well. Additionally, I saw at least two blatant instances of the holding by the Bears in which our D-Line and line-backers over-powered the Missouri State O-Line and those boys were just hanging on for dear life.

Time to fire up the chain saw ...... Good luck man- glad you're safe. It took me and my 3 neighbors, 2 trucks, 1 trailer, 1 tractor, 3 chainsaws, 2 pole saws, and an entire weekend to clean up from the May ice storm. I'm still sore and I'm still cleaning up branches! Stay safe and don't go hanging off any ladders with that chainsaw!

My favorite part is their left tackle's attempt to block Starr by touching him on the back on the way by. Good effort! I still say there's no way their coaches watched any game film. Starr was routinely single teamed and dragged to the ground a couple times (one VERY OBVIOUSLY) with no flag being thrown.

I don't think there should have been a penalty period let alone all this action and talk of suspensions. That play looked clean and really not all that late either.

I have faith that they'll review and let Starr torment Indiana State for the whole game next week.
I still can't get over that the defense never even let them sniff the end zone, aside from the 8 yard td drive. The one time they ever drove anywhere near field goal range we had Bryant pick it off. If our offense scores some points we might turn into a dangerous team!

Great gritty Dakota Days win!! Defense played extremely well and if not for 2 Coyote miscues very probably would have pitched a shutout!! Offense looks more diverse and Josh V will be great at WR/FL!
