I was in Terra Haute last year, and the only good thing to come out of that game was watching Mr. Earl move the ball up and down the field the second half when the game was already out of reach. It's to early to predict the score yet for me, but it is time to talk football.
Do you think Tyler might come in the second half just a wee bit ready to tee off on someone. I feel sorry for the poor bas**** that has to take his first few pops. Lol. I think the Coyotes are slowly gaining some momentum, and have a little confidence now knowing they can win. A win Saturday would be huge. I'm going to say that every Saturday from here on out, but this one is big. Just like getting a road win in the league would be huge.
I'm so proud of our defense. Simply put, a defense can keep you in every game. If Josh can find a significant role on offense, and Earl can keep slinging the ball ( downfield) I like what I see. We aren't there yet, but the journey isn't near as far as it once was.

This message board will sound like a broken record by year's end, because each and every week a win would be big for our team.
I think this game comes down to whether or not we have to face a healthy Shakir Bell. That guy, when healthy, is a beast. We are without Tyler Starr for a half, and that would likely be enough time for Bell to get Indiana State a lead we wouldn't overcome. Two weeks ago against Tennessee Tech Bell had 201 yards on 25 carries, and last week against Youngstown Bell had 17 yards on 7 carries. Word is he had a toe and leg bruise, and didn't see any action after the first quarter. If Bell still isn't healthy and they have to rely on the passing game, I think the defense holds Indiana State to 17 points max. No promises on that number if turnovers and special teams miscues have a heyday.
Offense looked better last week. I would have liked to see us go downfield more as Earl seems to be a much more accurate passer than JVM. Plus I would love to see the coaches find a way to utilize JVM, that dude could be a terror if he finds his niche. Bruise Bros continue to impress their freshman year, and should look even better if we stretch the defense with a reliable passing game.
Defense is ranked #1 in the FCS in passing defense and #9 in total defense. Who saw that coming? They face a tough test this week, and I hope we can keep preaching our top ten total defense next week!

After watching the replay of the Missouri State game the other night, and being at the game on Saturday, I believe we should have won that game by at least 2 TDs. We were the better team, except for the long snap problem, and the 90 yards of penalties. I thought our punt/KO coverage was pretty good. As for the penalties, Joe Glenn said the 'team' would be doing extra running for each penalty and he was pretty sure the linemen would get tired of that pretty quick and help clean up the problem!
On the Midco Coyote show last night, the Indiana State play-by-play announcer was interviewed and he sounded a little iffy on Shakir Bell's health. His backups aren't in the same league. They too have suffered the loss of a number of key players to season ending injury. If Bell can't play, or is not up to full speed, it sounds like they will be airing it out. This could be challenging with the loss of Starr's pass rush in the first half, and the injury to Aaron Swift.
With continued improvements on the offensive side, no fatal long snaps, and a patched together defense that gets the job done, I think we should win again on Saturday.

This is probably an easy question, but how does one know the latest on Shakir Bell? Or will they not even reveal this until gametime?
For entertainment purposes only.... The line went from us getting 2 1/2 yesterday to getting 1 last night. Tonight we are getting 4. Seems like a lot of movement to me!
Also, someone mentioned in another thread that we rarely lose by over 7 in the dome. Indeed you have to go back to Nov 6, 2010 to find the last time we lost by over 7 at the dome. Last year's ndsu debacle was not in the dome.
Let's avoid the post- D Days and 1st MVFC win- letdown this week and get back up to .500 heading into UNI.
GO YOTES!!!

None of their fans are optimistic that he'll be at his best, if he plays.

How about for superstition reasons the Yotes wear all red again this week. Keep it until the Yotes lose at home. I kind of like the all red look as an alternative to the normal red jersey's and white pants.

Great idea as usual Mr.CF. Kind of goes with The Big Red Missile Defense. Now if we could just get The Thermo Nuclear Quick Strike Offense installed.
Let's go Coyotes, let's go! Two days to the next victory.

I think the Coyotes have a really good chance to win this week. The only way that I can see them losing is if Bell is completely healthy and they get a lead with Starr out. I do see a couple other games that might be about as easy as this one but USD's remaining schedule is really tough. In teams of games that I see USD winning I would put them in this order 1) Indiana State 2) @ Illinois State 3) either Youngstown State or Youngstown State(because they are at home) 5) montana 6) Northern Iowa(I don't know where this game is at so it might move some) 7) @ndsu. Once you get past game #2, it gets tough. This is just my opinion and I haven't seen most of these teams play so it might not mean much.

I agree about Bell, having him healthy may put this game out of reach even if we had Starr the first half. Hoping we can defend the Dome well this year, but as you said after Indiana State and Illinois State things really go up a notch. 5 teams currently ranked 18th or better, including two sure losses at top 5 teams. I've only watched the DSUs play, so I can't really say if the other five teams live up to their rankings, but they sure sound good.

per our reporter on twitter Bell says he's going to play, now how much or how effective he'll be is anyone's guess?

Could be a smaller crowd for the game with all the SDSU package tickets purchased. Hope those in attendance, get loud and help the team. I believe this ISU team will prove to be better than Missouri St and W Ill.

I believe this ISU team will prove to be better than Missouri St and W Ill. I had access to 500 tickets for ISU fans via an sdsu alum, sadly there probably won't even be 50 fans from ISU at the game, there will be a few, but it's a long way to travel from TH to Vermillion

Possibly 500 empty alumni seats, possible weakened crazies crowd, Starr out for a half, Shakir Bell (presumably) healthy again, possible post-1st conf win-letdown. We've got a few negatives today. It's gut check time. There are only a few more realistically winnable games remaining and this is one of them! If we can clean up the penalties and NOT spot the opponent 7 points on a special teams miscue, our starting QB now has a game under his belt and there's no reason we shouldn't be able to defend the dome. Let's get loud today, get the W, and start the road trip with a .500 record! GO YOTES!
