Does anyone remember Knud Nielsen, the soccer style kicker from Denmark who kicked for the Coyotes in 1978?

His son is a foreign exchange student in the US, and I am getting him on Friday and bringing him to the game Saturday. I will in the tailgate area lot 21/23 and would like all Coyote fans from past to present to come say hello.
He is here to see where his dad played and look at the University. Nice kid, so please come say hello.

When you think about it.... USD has really had a pretty long and successful list of kickers. Nielsen, Siebel, McCloughlin, Hicks and I'd even though in Cody Butler too.

Steve Opstad in the early 90's had one of the biggest legs ever at USD. He crushed the ball and consistenly made 40-50+ yd kicks.

Opstad was a beast. Didn't he have a game with 2 FG's from 50 plus?

Yes, and he made them from over 60 at practice regularly inside the Dome - they never lined him up in a game to do it, but he could have. Great all around athlete.
As we have found out with our punter this year - the kicking game is really a game changer. I think many of our games would have looked much different if we did not have that field position advantage he has given us at times. There are several games where he has flipped the field on opponents that had us pinned deep.

Don't forget Frank Liebfarth. He was pretty good for USD as well.
