I suppose its as good a time as any to start talking about the opener against the Bonnies. I don't really know much about them but from the little bit I have read, they seem to be a pretty good ball club. They have about 4 big bodies to match up with down low ( couple 6'10" and a 7'). what does our starting line up look like assuming they play 2 bigs at the same time? The guard positions look like we match up fairly well size wise. We give up a little at the 1 and 2 but not enough to really be at a disadvantage. I really hope we come out and show a good defensive presence as well as rebounding on both ends of the floor. These were our 2 biggest failures the last couple of years so we will see what happens under new leadership. Its hard to imagine that a lot could change in the short amount of time that James has been head coach, but you never know. One other thing im interested to see is if we have a set offense or if we stay with the wheel/free lance stuff we tried last year. In any case this should make for an interesting year.

Can't wait for basketball season to start. Hopefully the "new" man to man defense scheme in place of the old zone leads to a few more Coyote wins this season.

I don't know whether or not we'll be more competitive under James, but I feel that we have a bit more talent than we did last year. Even if our talent and coaching is improved, can't see us taking down the Bonnies. Pretty good team, will be interesting to see how we stack up with them.

The thing that has me excited about men's basketball this year is the fact that the cupboard isn't bare. In years past, most of us could have told you who the starting line-up would be and who'd be the first two subs off the bench. This year, it sounds as if there are still guys battling for a few of those spots. Which reminds me, next Tuesday, Nov. 12th between 6-8 PM at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Louise Ave., Coach James and his staff will be doing a fan meet and greet and talking about the up-coming mens basketball season. 10% of all business during that 6-8 P.M. window will go to the USD Howling Pack.
