Tomorrow USD will look to go 2-0 on the young season, playing a team that has not been very successful over the past couple of years. UC-I got an exhibition win over Concordia, but it was a lot closer than it should have been. One thing UC-I is very good at is free throw shooting. If you let them get to the line, watch out. UC-I only beat Concordia by a score of 81-70.

Top 5 Things About UC-I

1. They do not hold onto the ball. They had 23 turn overs in their exhibition game against Concordia. Something USD will take advantage of.
2. They do not score a lot off the bench. Once their starters are tired, they rely on their defense to keep them in the game.
3. They shoot a very low FG percentage. They definitely will rely on their defense to try and win this game.
4. Now, is their defense good? Not really. They only had 11 2nd chance points, and only out rebounded Concordia by 2.
5. They play all players, and they all can score.

Top 5 Things About USD

1. Nicole Seekamp is a beast, and will probably dominate. I expect 20+ point performance from her.
2. Raeshel Contreras needs to keep proving herself. She really made a name for herself, but she needs to keep it up.
3. USD really shoots the ball well, and shoot the three well also. Just an all round solid team.
4. We need to work on free throw shooting, getting that down would mean a lot.
5. Time to button down, and play every minute. We let UC-F back into the game, cannot do that again.

Final thoughts.

I believe USD will win this one handily. 20+ points for sure. I would put a lot of money on it. I expect big performances offensively and defensively. I think we will definately score in the 60-70 point range, and only give up 40-50 points. Good Luck Lady Yotes!

Awful game from what I heard of it on the radio, lost 68-64. We out rebounded them 52-37, were given 42 free throw attempts to their 28, turned the ball over 26 times, and needed a bit of a late run to finish at 25.9% from the field. Very bad game for the Yotes.

I watched none of it, but it seems the horrible overreaction by the NCAA resulting in rule changes on foul calls is already ruining the game, 54 combined personal fouls between the two teams today. 54! I don't see a game time in the box score, but I bet this one lasted an eternity. Last season was the lowest scoring season for Division 1 in 30 years, and to increase scoring they decided to stop the game with a foul call every 44.4 seconds (in this case). Cripes! Yeah, 70 free throw attempts in one game will increase the score, but there is no way that was any fun to watch at all. Suppose this was also another way for the NCAA to ruin upsets come March, badly exposing the limited depth that smaller schools have.

Just watched the replay of the first half and absolutely brutal officiating. Probably called evenly but if the defender locked both eyes on the girl with the ball the whistle blew.

Yeah it was getting hard to listen to on the radio. There was no flow to the game because every 3 seconds the whistle was blowing. Sounded like terrible shooting. If they could have made anything, it would have been a win.
