Arizona, FBS Kansas, and Western Illinois - all pre-QB change, a Southern Illinois loss that stunk and an inevitable loss to #1 NDSU (soon to be 3 time National Champions).

Next year our offense will contain the following:
QB - Earl (JR), Saeger (SO), Ramsey (RS FR)
RB - Sanders (SR), Bouma (SO), Roberts (SO), Kilgore (FR)
FB - Potter (SO, Manning (SR)
WR - Terry (SR), JMV (SR), Donovan (SO), Meyer (JR), Graham (SO)
TE - Barkley (JR), Miller (SO)
OL - By my count there are 3 seniors leaving - and that is deceiving because Murtha backs up Nelson at LG.

On defense you lose Starr (major loss), Emilious Davis, and the starters at DB (also huge). However, you have DBs in Foster(FR), Armstead(FR), Lewis(FR) and Tellefson (JR) with significant experience.

Point being, this team is SOOOOOOO young, and look where they are. Look at what Glenn and Co. did in recruiting after last year. After a 1-11 season - think about what they can do after this season. When they can walk into a room and say - "hey, do you want to play against Oregon on the Pac-12 network, in Autzen Stadium, against the team that Nike built?"

Look at all of the guys that are on the 2 deep that are Freshman or RS-Freshman. How can any reasonable person not see the promise in what Glenn is building?

I think that you put it very well. If you're going to ridicule Wes for his play calling then it better be for his work up until this week, because he was dealt a very bad hand with that RB situation. Pretty hard to have the pass work when everyone knows it's coming.

Glenn has absolutely got us on the right track. (I said to fire him earlier, pure sarcasm) Look at our team. Glenn has one full recruiting class, and his guys are already playing huge roles. That is not at all how coaching changes usually work, usually you don't see the coach's players playing a big part until a few classes in. If we can get another (or god forbid, several) recruiting classes like the one Glenn brought in last year we will be damn good very soon. Give a 3 time NC coach time and he is bound to do something here.

The loss this last week was disappointing, but optimistic expectations had us at 4 wins, and it took several bad breaks for us not to crush that mark. Things are pointed up, way up. This offense is going to be very, very potent next year, and I don't see the defense falling off much at all.

I have not commented on the game itself yet as I am still fuming over the loss and the interaction I experienced with Jacks fans. I'll let that simmer a few more days until I calm a bit.

I just wanted to step in here and say I used to be one of Wes's biggest critics. Since Earl stepped in I have been happy with his work. I think he finally has a QB that fits his style. I know, bad call on the QB draw against state. Ehh, he was trying to sneak something in there on the ground. Thought he might get a few cheap yards catching them pants down. Didn't really have much else to work with for a run game that day.

Bottom line, if Joe says he stays then I'll support that decision.

Three wins over three incredibly hapless teams, then blown out by anyone with a pulse, happening in his 5th season. He deserved to go. Might be tough to hire anyone good there, having to compete with NDSU and given the recruiting nightmare they have with that travel schedule.

Can't agree with you more. Good analysis on everything. One thing about the offensive line, Murtha was a starter the last two years until he went down with a knee injury both years. He was our best offensive lineman last year before he got hurt.

Wes has progressively gotten better with his play calling. He still has a few head scratchers, but not near as many. Yes the QB draw was a big one, but kind of understandable with the RB situation.
