Five days until the men kick off at UVU. They were predicted to finish fourth in the WAC for the upcoming season. As per past seasons at UVU, this game is available to view on the web through a link at their athletics web site. Should be a good game to start the season and begin feeling out roles with so many new players on the team.
Any predictions for the starting 5? Many positions seem to be up in the air. My guess goes like this:
Hunter - C Burnette - G Bos - G Harris - G Flack - F (if healthy)

Based on comments I have heard that looks about right, but Larson could make his way in there as well.

Is the game free through UVU's website?

He has had back issues. Then I believe he may have recently twisted an ankle.

Utah Valley was a huge surprise last season, winning the regular-season WAC title. I don't remember much from our home game with them last year, but I note they no longer have the services of two of their top scorers, center Ben Aird and Guard Holton Hunsaker (They combined for 33 points against us). They've also lost guard Hayes Garrity to injury. I'm really looking forward to the beginning of the Smith Era.

Does anyone know if Larson is back to 100%. Even at the end of last year I believe Coyote Corner interviewed him and he even admitted he wasnt quite back from his leg injury and you could see it when you watched him play. For that reason only I would lean towards Harris, Bos and Burnette at the guards level but if Larson is 100% finally he had some promise.

I have talked to people in the know that said Larson has played very well in practice so far. Basketball IQ is his MO.

I'm betting Tyler Larson has himself one heck of a senior year. Can't wait to see the Yotes tip off tonight!

FWIW, in Mick's chat he actually even suggested that Flack could possibly redshirt this season...ugh.
MG's predicted starting five:
G: Harris G: Bos G/F: Larson F: Burnette C: Hunter
First off the bench: Kasperbauer, Robertson, Thoseby, Norris, and maybe DJ Davis.
I was very disappointed not to see Spark in that list. However, he believes that Spark may still be a little too thin to bang in the Summit.
Based on this lineup, we are going to have to do two things REALLY well: (1) play defense on the perimeter and, (2) shoot the ball! Hopefully Hunter can cover up on the rebounding end as well. I see a lot of minutes in Robertson's future if Flack isn't healthy enough to play. Hopefully he has continued to bulk up.

That would be tough to lose Flack, who I think is one of the keys on how good we can be this year. In games last year his highs were high and his lows were low and the team kind of went the same way it seemed. Also, YIKES MG that is a small line up. That puts us at 6'3. 6'5 at the 3 and 4, which only amplifies how important Flack is to this roster. Unfortunately, if we want to put our best 5 on the floor, we will have to get used to the small lineups if Flack is out for a long period or even the season. Excited to see what the new guys bring to the roster either way.

Couldn't agree more, he just needs to learn how to play around the foul game.
