There have been some rumors going around today that Chynna Stevens may be leaving the program. There is nothing to confirm this but interesting none the less. They already lose Waytashek and Clarin and now possibly Stevens. That would be two good post players they would lose if this was the case. People talk about the losses of Seekamp, Contreras and Loffler but States losses are not insignificant either especially if they lose Stevens.

Another example of the importance of a deep team. They, like USD, have a deep team and will be fine, if true.

If true, Ellie Thompson proved that she can play and will fill the starter roll nicely having made the all-tournament team as a true freshman. Thompson did start for the Jacks the last month or so of the season because of Stevens injury. SDSU will be fine without Stevens but, will be that much better with here. I hope this rumor can be put to rest within the next week or so. It hard to believe rumors on fan forums and fan chats on the Argus. Like Yotes said, it nice to have such a deep, talented team.
Waytashek will be hard to replace, like Seekamp she did just about everything. The most important thing she brought was her leadership. SDSU does get back Gabby Boever who will bring a ton of experience and leadership, as well as one the best on ball defenders in the Summit and in the mid-major ranks. Clarin got into foul trouble a lot so Ober had to step up in some games the past couple of years. Ober can shoot the 3 and is almost automatic on the left block. The only thing SDSU will miss with Clarin will be her athletic ability and the way she could run the floor for a big. Ober will be ready to start. SDSU also brings in one of the best incoming freshman 3 point shooters in the nation. I'm really excited to see what Madison Guebert brings. Can't forget about the 2 former Kernels. Young will be ready to take over Waytasheks role while Miller could be SDSU's go to player as well. She showed last season that she can take over games as a true freshamn. The sky is the limit for her. Perhaps the next Megan Vogal?
I am a little skeptical of USD next year. Don't get me wrong, they still will be at least a top 3 team, but they won't be as good as the last couple of years. It's hard to imagine that they will be as good with the loses of Seekamp and Contreras. Players do step up so who knows. There are just a lot of question marks in my eyes which will be answered in the ooc. Seekamp was as incredible player who did many things for her team and did them well. She could take over a game whenever she felt the need to do so. Contreras was in my opinion, the best shooter I've seen in the Summit since Jill Young. Whenever she made a 3 it filled the team with energy. Stewart will probably have a bigger role and the addition of Duffy will be nice. I don't really know a whole lot about the rest of USD's players. So feel free to critique and inform me better about what to expect with USD WBB next year.

Stevens never impressed me. They may be better off with her leaving in my opinion.

Kudos on getting Notre Dame to come. There basically isn't anyone more impressive in this sport to attract, other than UConn.

I sure hope so. Congrats to the Jacks for a schedule like they have, and getting national power Notre Dame to come to your house. Very impressive. Take note fans, this is exactly what we should be striving for in all sports. It can be done. Good job Jacks.

Good for them and their scheduling. Until a Summit team is proven to be able to get an at large bid to the tourney it will really not matter much more than being a 12th seed in the NCAA tourney vs being a 14 seed. That would be for the automatic qualifier. I think playing a tough schedule is only as good as how many of those tough games are actually won. If the Jacks are able to pull off a couple of big upsets that will bode well for them but will it be good enough to get an at large bid if they need one and how much would it help the seeding at the tourney whether they would get an at large bid or auto bid.

I assumed the ND news was well known by now. Their women have played a brutal out of conference schedule for a couple years now. Marist, Arkansas, ODU, Depaul, Maryland, Green Bay, Pitt, Creighton are all good womens programs and tough games. But yes, for it to really positively impact their RPI they need to win a few of those, especially considering how weak the summit is expected to be next year. Would be cool if they could hang with ND, but that one will most likely get pretty ugly. Frost should be packed for it though!

You need to think bigger. SDSU earned a 7 seed in the 2009 tournament, should have, could have been a 5. Based on a solid non-conference schedule. And yes, that team would have gotten an at large had they lost in the conference tournament. They were ranked in the top 25. Good for them and their scheduling. No it can't. I don't think you understand scheduling.

jackl: why that comment? USD Coach Williams is positioning her team, timed perfectly with the great basketball facility upgrade, to attract top teams to Vermillion. There's the potential for a little synergy: a team wanting to play top talent on one weekend road trip: USD and SDSU. It certainly can be done.

I agree that Williams is one of the Summit coaches that is building toward tougher schedules and more competitive teams. The new facility will enhance her efforts significantly. At this point, the Yotes will be the competition in Summit WBB.

YF is saying they need and can get their other sports to schedule like the Jacks women are doing. I'm simply saying it's not feasible to have your football and mens basketball programs with comparable home schedules. It doesn't work like that. I have no doubt USD can improve their womens basketball non-conference schedules.
